This highly original example was purchased new in January 1965 by Richard and Novella Delbruegge from Charles Vincel Pontiac in St. Louis. The couple enjoyed the car locally for nearly two decades before parking it in their garage around 1983, where it would remain largely undisturbed for the next 40 years-an extraordinary period of preservation that helped protect its originality.

The Grand Prix was eventually discovered through word of mouth by longtime Pontiac enthusiasts William and Charlene Hall, already caretakers of several GTO models. Recognizing the car's authenticity, Bill Hall undertook a careful recommissioning:
• Engine and transmission removed, disassembled, inspected, and refreshed to factory specifications
• Internals found exceptionally clean-original pistons retained with new rings
• Standard valve service and full engine gasket set
• Rebuilt carburetor, new belts, hoses, ignition components, fluids, and filters
• Transmission serviced with new filter, gasket, and fluids
• Fuel system revived with cleaned tank, new fuel pump, and filter
The car returned to life quickly, a testament to its careful original ownership. It was then gently exercised and maintained for the following two years.

The car was acquired by St. Louis Car Museum in December 2025, where additional work focused on long-term drivability while preserving its originality:
• Fully rebuilt air conditioning system, including new compressor and Old Air Products Deluxe POA upgrade kit, new heater control valve, and R134a conversion
• Entirely new exhaust system installed from the manifolds rearward
• Original radiator cleaned, recored, and pressure tested
• New brake master cylinder and front brake hoses
• New front and rear shocks
• Front sway bar bushings and end links replaced
• Other ancillary improvements including quarter vent glass seals and under-hood insulation

Following mechanical sorting, the car was carefully detailed to rejuvenate its original finish. The paint remains unrestored and displays honest age, minor touch-up, and light shrinkage consistent with a true survivor, yet still presents a warm, authentic shine. The remarkably well-preserved interior reflects decades of garage storage and careful use.

Today the odometer reads just 56,189 miles, a figure strongly believed to be original based on its history and condition. Rather than being cosmetically restored, this Grand Prix stands as a genuine time capsule, retaining the character, materials, and craftsmanship applied at the factory in 1965, now complemented by thorough mechanical attention to ensure it can once again be confidently enjoyed on the road. It will come with the original owner's manual, warranty booklet with Protect-O-Plate inside, and original registration receipt from 1965.
