It's arguably one of the most iconic rides Chevy ever created. Just
one look at this 1956 Chevrolet Nomad is all it takes to conjure up
images of a simpler time, full of carefree adventuring. Revitalized
in a Charcoal Gray Metallic over Cream color scheme, with some
added metallic flakes in the gray section to catch the sun to
perfection, this is a great looking classic. It features a
tastefully lowered stance and its set of ultra-sharp 17" Billet
Specialties wheels adds the perfect finishing touch. This vintage
Chevy's chrome bright work is in fine condition, including the
telescoping chrome antenna, the window tinting retains nice, even
coloring and a closer inspection will confirm that its door seals
and window trim are pliable and have kept any potentially intruding
elements at bay.
The vinyl interior has been thoroughly refreshed to color-match the
exterior and it really presents well, with comfortable bench
seating that shows no concerning wear and both carpeting and door
panels that are in great shape. An undersized aftermarket steering
wheel sits on a tilting column and the signature fan-shaped
instrument cluster just beyond it is crystal clear, with a trio of
AutoMeter gauges integrated into the custom center console just to
the right to monitor motoring functions, along with a Pioneer
AM/FM/CD stereo. An added Vintage Air climate control system makes
this Bel Air a comfortable driver throughout the year and while the
system isn't currently blowing as cold as it should, that should
likely be remedied by a simple freon recharge.
There's plenty to like beneath the hood, where a 350-cubic-inch V8
stands by, ready for action and outfitted with a four-barrel
Quadrajet carburetor. Mated to a smooth shifting 3-speed automatic
transmission, the engine is in fine form, sending a deep note out
of the dual exhaust that leads to a pair of Borla mufflers. A
Moroso aluminum radiator sits up front, equipped with a pair of
electric fans to keep operating temperatures in check, and the way
the aftermarket air conditioning condenser was so cleanly
integrated with the radiator shows a reassuring attention to
detail. Power brakes that include discs up front bring prompt
stops, while the power steering on this Chevy makes it easy to
maneuver.
