INTRODUCTION: This is the most striking and most desirable color
combination on a split window! It is highly sought after by
collectors and investors. 2 NCRS judges looked at the tag and
agreed it is authentic.
EXTERIOR: The 1963 Corvette Split Window is one of the most iconic
American sports cars ever produced. The sculpted Sting Ray body,
hidden headlights, crisp fender lines, and that unmistakable
divided rear glass give this car a presence unlike anything else on
the road. This Corvette presents incredibly well and makes an
outstanding first impression. The body is in exceptional condition
with very nice fit and alignment throughout. The headlights open
and close as they should, the doors shut with a solid, precise
feel. The black paint is super glossy and slick, giving the car
tremendous presence. Upon closer inspection, you will find a number
of touch-ups and minor imperfections. That said, they do not
detract from the overall presentation. The emblems sparkle nicely,
the stainless trim is in good condition-showing some age but not
abused, the bumpers and taillight bezels have been rechromed, the
hood grilles are in excellent shape and it has its original
antenna. The weatherstrips were replaced. It's rolling on radial
tires and the spinner hubcaps are in excellent condition.
INTERIOR: Wow, the factory red is stunning against the black.
Inside, you'll be surrounded by a very fresh interior that looks
beautifully restored from top to bottom. The dash pad and
surrounding dash components present like new, complemented by
excellent replacement door panels and fresh red carpet throughout.
The seats and armrest have been reupholstered and the headliner and
sun visors look new. The glove box door and liner have been
replaced, interior lights are fully functional, and even the clock
is ticking as it should. Directly ahead sits the correct 6,500-rpm
redline tachometer for the 340-horsepower engine, along with an
upgraded Hurst shifter controlling the 4-speed trans, completing
the high-performance feel of the cockpit.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is clean and
well-presented. It houses the correct 327 motor, complete with
proper casting codes and date stamps. The stamp pad was machined
smooth during the rebuild, and on top sits an aluminum intake,
along with the 340-horsepower finned valve covers and correct air
cleaner. The car retains the stock exhaust manifolds and upper
ignition shielding, along with the deep-groove pulleys exclusive to
the high-horsepower engines. Overall, the engine bay is tidy and
proper.
UNDERSIDE: This was the first year for Corvette's fully independent
suspension both front and rear, a major advancement that greatly
improved ride and handling. The chassis appears solid with a strong
frame, and the underside shows a clean, well-kept drivetrain.
Looking up at the engine, it presents nicely and has the correct
canister type oil filter. It is equipped with a correct Borg-Warner
T-10 4-speed trans and what appears to be the original 3.08
Positraction rear end, dated and coded appropriately for the car.
It seems to be in good working order, our shop did inspect and
service it. We replaced two front shocks, adjusted the brakes and
e-brake, and bled the system.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: Whether admired for its groundbreaking design,
one-year-only status, or its place in Corvette history, the '63
Split-Window stands as a blue-chip collectible and a centerpiece in
any serious collection. The black and red combination soars it to
the top of the desirability charts!
