While Tom Brady may have monopolized the G.O.A.T. moniker in recent
years, this 1967 Pontiac GTO hardtop represents the original Goat
from the Golden Age of muscle cars. Fully repainted in a subtle yet
spectacular Dark Blue Metallic exterior paint, this GTO's
laser-straight lines and aggressive stance is easy to see from any
angle. This '67 shows off the GTO's styling changes for the new
model year, highlighted by its dual-quad taillight arrangement,
replacing its predecessor's louvered setup.
Inside, we find a clean, stock, and well-done black vinyl interior,
broken up by a wood-trimmed dashboard and console, with a
wood-rimmed power-assisted three-spoke steering wheel sporting a
slightly lighter wood-grain hue. A center console separates a pair
of bucket seats, while a four-pod gauge cluster features a 120-mph
speedometer. A pair of auxiliary gauges sits under the dash, while
a massive 10,000-rpm tachometer sits just ahead of the wooden
shifter knob. An Alpine AM/FM/CD head unit is hidden away in the
glove box, allowing the original unit to retain the classic vibe
inside the cabin.
Under the hood sits a 400 cubic-inch V-8 engine. Fed by a single
four-barrel carburetor, spent gases are expelled via a set of long
tube headers and a FlowMaster dual exhaust. Power from that big
motor is sent through a TH400 four-speed automatic transmission and
onto a ten-bolt rear, which transfers those ponies to the pavement
via 17-inch wheels shod in Z-rated rubber.

need to corral that speed arises, a set of power brakes featuring
discs up front and drums in the rear is ready to scrub off speed
whenever called upon. While Tom Brady may be the football G.O.A.T.,
this final year, first-gen Pontiac shows us all why it was the
original Goat, and belongs in the muscle car hall of fame. If you
