Throughout the Corvette's eight generations, each one has its own
special years and models. For the first generation, beyond its
inaugural year, it can be argued that this 1961 Chevrolet Corvette
Restomod represents the most visually impactful year in this sports
car's history. Decked out in this spectacular Lemans Blue with
white coves, complete with a body-color removable fiberglass
hardtop and a complementing white vinyl soft top, the polished
five-spoke 15-inch Billet Specialty wheels give this car a stance
unlike most other classics. This year, Corvette can be identified
by its three-louver side vent moldings, and most notably, 1961 is
the first year Chevy gave its halo car its now-signature quad
taillight setup.
Inside, we find a factory black leather interior with blue accents
that is classic Corvette. Sitting in front of its three-spoke
power-assisted steering wheel, the five-pod gauge setup, featuring
a broad half-moon speedometer and center-mount tach, broadcasts all
the most pertinent information a driver could need in an efficient
and aesthetically pleasing way. An analog clock, a Billet floor
shifter, dual cup holders, and a padded grab bar each add a bit of
charm to the simple yet elegant interior of this car.
Under that expansive hood, we find a Texas Speed & Performance 427
cubic inch LS3 crate engine rated at 635 horsepower. Tack on shorty
headers and a true-dual exhaust, and those numbers are undoubtedly
a bit higher. That output is funneled through a tried-and-true
Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission before heading to the Fab
9-inch Posi rear end, which transfers power to the pavement via a
set of gorgeous 15-inch Billet Specialties wheels shod in
235/60R-15 BFGoodrich rubber. At the same time, a narrower set of
225/60R-15 BFG tires handles steering duties up front.

suspension featuring a full front swap with tubular A-arms and
rack-and-pinion steering. Wilwood power disc, highlighted by
cross-drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners, stands ready
to scrub off speed far better than anything made in 1961. If you've
been looking for a Corvette with historical significance, but a
reliable modern powertrain that only has about 1,200 miles on it,
then it's going to be hard to beat this stunning Lemans Blue 1961
