*** Located in Hawthorne, NJ - Zoom Classic Cars proudly presents
this 1978 VW Westfalia Camper. The 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia is an
iconic Type 2 "Bay Window" camper, featuring a 2.0-liter air-cooled
"pancake" engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, and a signature
pop-up roof that allows it to sleep four comfortably. It is highly
sought after for its classic, functional, and nostalgic design,
offering features like a kitchenette, rear benches that fold into a
bed, and significant storage. Some Specs: Engine: 2.0-liter
(1600cc) flat-four "pancake" air-cooled engine (GE code), producing
approximately 67 horsepower. Transmission: 4-speed manual.
Dimensions/Capacity: The Bus is known for having a rear engine,
while this model features a front-mounted spare tire. Interior:
Rear bench seat that converts into a double bed, a roof-level bed,
a swivel passenger seat, and a dining table. Kitchenette: Equipped
with a sink, a 12v water pump, a water tank (approx. 7 gallons),
and an icebox. Comfort/Utility: Includes a fiberglass pop-up top
with canvas sides, wardrobe/closets, curtains for privacy, and a
110-volt AC shore power hookup. This camper van comes with a unique
feature that adds to its appeal. Inside are signatures of students
from Montclair State University in NJ as part of an exploration day
held at the college. Students were encouraged to be more social and
creative which resulted in the signature artwork on the interior.
Interior is in great shape, especially the upholstery on the seats
and beds. The front passenger side seat swivels around completely
and there's Bluetooth capability as well. Present owner has had the
van for 3 years and is the third owner. There are a few issues with
the van: On the exterior, there are a couple of small rust areas
that can be seen in the photos. However, the undercarriage looks
good overall. On the interior, the fuel gauge is not totally
accurate, although it is working. There is no heating or AC
currently in the van. The ice box is not functioning and the pop-up
roof, although recently fixed, is not opening for a sleeping area.
The van still sleeps 4 - 3 comfortably. The van needs a little work
to bring it back to its full glory. However, this van is in very
good structural condition and would make a great addition to any
collector, or someone just looking for a fun camper van to go
exploring. Located in Hawthorne, NJ. Contact Mike B. for details or
