Introduced as Lamborghini's flagship following the storied Diablo
era, the Murcielago encapsulates the raw drama and engineering
ambition of early 21st-century Italian supercars. At its heart lies
a potent 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V12, known for its linear
power delivery, cathedral-like exhaust note, and robust performance
across the rev range. Originally only available with a manual
transmission in early model years, 2004 marked the introduction of
Lamborghini's optional $10,000 semi-automated paddle shift E-Gear
transmission. Similar to other brands, this option was
overwhelmingly popular with customers who specified it on nearly
every car from its introduction. Only 69 manual 6.2-liter Roadsters
were produced worldwide and of these just 38 were destined for
delivery in the United States.
As a 2006 model, this gated six-speed manual Murcielago Roadster
represents the culmination of development for the original
6.2-liter platform and includes several noteworthy refinements over
earlier production cars. Compared to earlier cars, it is equipped
with the distinct late-production Hercules wheel design,
substantial eight-piston front brake calipers for enhanced stopping
power, upgraded ignition components for improved reliability,
revised exhaust routing for greater efficiency and sound
refinement, and a simplified non-adjustable suspension setup that
yields a more engaging and communicative chassis feel. These
enhancements underscore Lamborghini's ongoing evolution of the
model throughout its production run and are highly valued by
collectors who appreciate mechanical authenticity paired with
refined capability.
This example has been sparingly used by its current owner, with
under 5,200 miles indicated-600 of which were added by the current
owner. The condition of its bodywork and finish are commensurate
with the mileage and are unaltered with the exception of PPF across
all body panels and window tint. The interior remains original,
complete with well-specified appointments and unmodified driver
controls. It should be noted that the original exhaust is not
included or fitted to the car as a Kreissieg cat-back exhaust
system has been installed.
Previous research indicates that the engine oil and filter were
changed in April 2021 at 4,250 miles. Once again in December 2023
at 4,460 miles, the engine oil and filter were changed, and the
brake fluid was flushed. Prior to current ownership, Wistar Motors
of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania performed an annual oil change and
brake flush in January 2024. Shortly after acquisition, the car was
sent to Universal Autosports in Farmingdale, New York. A faulty
suspension lift valve was replaced along with other items. Shortly
thereafter, a faulty hose was found the be the source of a check
engine light within the EVAP system and was replaced at the cost of
$2,141. Finally, an annual service was performed in April 2025,
along with an AC recharge and wheel balancing.
Accompanied by two keys, owner's manuals, a convertible top, and a
front luggage organizer, this Murcielago Roadster is a compelling
example for collectors seeking a late-era Italian supercar with low
overall mileage, historical significance, and the visceral
character that only a naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini can
deliver. Ed Bolian, a well-known figure within the Lamborghini
world, states this is one of lowest-mileage and most original of
all 38 U.S. factory six-speed manual Roadsters. Rarely does an
opportunity arise to acquire a final model year pre-LP Murcielago
Roadster in such well-preserved condition-one that reflects both
the mechanical maturation of the model and its enduring appeal
among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
