This 1974 Chevrolet Nova blends classic muscle car attitude with
modern reliability and performance, built to be driven and enjoyed
rather than simply admired. Under the hood sits a rebuilt 5.3L LS
Vortec V8 that has been carefully upgraded with forged pistons and
rods, ported and polished aluminum heads, and new valves and
springs. Fuel delivery is handled by a FiTech Ultimate LS system
paired with an upgraded tune, while a Melling oil pump supports
durability. The result is a smooth, responsive powerplant that
starts easily, idles cleanly, and delivers modern drivability in a
vintage package.
Power is sent through a Monster-built 4L65E automatic transmission
to a new 8.5-inch posi rear with a 3.15 gear ratio, making the car
equally comfortable cruising or accelerating. Long tube headers
feed into a custom stainless dual exhaust system that provides a
deep performance tone without being overbearing. Cooling and
reliability have been addressed with a new radiator and electric
fans, a new fuel tank designed for fuel injection, and a completely
new wiring harness.
The suspension has been thoughtfully upgraded to match the
drivetrain performance. The front features a coilover setup with
independent front suspension geometry, while the rear retains leaf
springs for strength and stability. Subframe connectors help
stiffen the chassis, improving both handling and structural
rigidity. Power front disc brakes and rear drums provide confident
stopping capability.
Visually, the Nova keeps its classic identity. The body is finished
in ceramic coated paint in its factory color, complemented by new
SS sport stripes. The front and rear bumpers have been tucked with
the filler panels removed for a cleaner appearance. Rally wheels
with trim rings and Chevrolet center caps sit on BF Goodrich Radial
T/A tires, giving the car an authentic muscle-era stance while
maintaining modern road manners. The glass throughout the car is
excellent, and the exterior presents very well.
Inside, the car has been refreshed with a completely new interior
including front seats, carpet, headliner, and door pull straps. A
Dakota Digital instrument cluster provides accurate, easy-to-read
modern instrumentation while fitting the classic dashboard
aesthetic. All lights, gauges, wipers, and the horn are in proper
working order, making the car practical as well as enjoyable.
A binder full of receipts accompanies the car, documenting the
extensive work that went into the build, and the vehicle carries a
clean title. This Nova represents a well-executed restomod that
preserves the character of a 1970s Chevrolet while delivering the
reliability, drivability, and performance expected from a modern
muscle car.
