In 1967 Chevrolet rewrote the rulebook for pickups with the debut
of the Action Line C10. It was lower, wider, and smoother than
anything that came before it, built with car like comfort and style
that changed the way Americans looked at trucks. Today the short
bed C10 is a blue chip in the classic truck world, and when one is
transformed like this blacked out street brawler, it moves into a
different league altogether.
Under the steel cowl induction hood lives a 416ci LS3 built for
serious boost. An aluminum LS3 block, LS3 heads, LS7 4.00 inch
crankshaft, Cam Motion camshaft, ARP hardware, and a FAST LSXRT
intake set the stage. A CX Racing twin turbo system with T4 GT35
ceramic dual ball bearing turbos and an air to water intercooler
force feeds the combination. Backed by a HyFuel dual 340LPH fuel
pump system and Chevrolet Performance engine controller, this setup
is built with one number in mind: 1200 horsepower capability.
Power is routed through an Animal 4L80E Revenger built transmission
with a 3200 stall converter and 3.73 gears with a TrueTrac posi. A
Strange Dana S60 rear end, 35 spline axles, and a Strange
Engineering driveshaft make sure the pavement pays attention. Full
CPP suspension, a rear C notch, power steering, manual brakes with
a Wilwood master cylinder, and four wheel disc brakes keep it
planted and in control. A 3 inch stainless steel exhaust lets the
twin turbos sing with authority.
The body is laser straight and finished in deep black with filled
stake pockets, a smoothed tailgate, billet hood hinges, one piece
side glass, and LED lighting. The gas filler is cleverly hidden in
the marker light, and a spray in bedliner protects the business
end. A 17 gallon fuel tank is tucked under the bed to keep the
profile clean and purposeful.
Inside, the red vinyl bench seat and custom interior deliver a bold
contrast to the sinister exterior. Dakota Digital VHX gauges, a
Painless wiring harness, vintage radio with Bluetooth, and an
aftermarket sound system with a 10 inch sub and amp under the seat
bring modern tech into a classic cab. This is not just a restored
C10. It is a twin turbo street machine that honors Chevrolet
history while rewriting it in boost and black paint.
