This 1937 Ford Model 78 Deluxe Rumble Seat Cabriolet is a rare and
beautifully restored example, retaining 99.8% original "Henry Ford
steel." The car has been in the same family for over 25 years and
underwent a comprehensive, photo-documented restoration completed
in 2018. Since then, it has been carefully garaged in Cincinnati,
Ohio, and regularly shown at cruise-ins and car shows, where it
consistently draws attention and praise.
Under the hood is a professionally built 383ci Chevy stroker by
Pro-formance Unlimited (now Custom Crate Engines), dyno-tested at
462 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered through
a rebuilt GM Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a TCI converter
and an upgraded 8-inch rear end, offering smooth power delivery and
excellent highway drivability. Additional highlights include MSD
ignition, Edelbrock performance heads, Sanderson headers, and a
March Performance serpentine pulley system.
The body was completely disassembled and restored with new steel
panels where needed, meticulous panel alignment, and a high-end
paint finish. It is finished in Dupont Axalta "Limited Addiction
Red" with added pearl and metal flake, receiving seven coats of
color and five coats of clear. The result is a deep, show-quality
finish with outstanding presence.
Modern drivability upgrades include a Mustang II front suspension
with disc brakes, power brakes, Classic Auto Air conditioning,
aluminum radiator with electric fan, and a fully refinished
chassis. The interior features durable vegan leather upholstery,
South American Padauk wood trim, Dakota Digital gauges, power
windows, and a hidden modern audio system. The car rides on
American ceramic black-chromed wheels wrapped in Hankook tires and
is topped with a fully custom canvas convertible top designed
specifically for this car.
A rare pre-war Ford Cabriolet that seamlessly blends classic
styling, modern performance, and show-quality craftsmanship.
