For Sale: 1960 Cadillac Series 62 in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

INTRODUCTION: Condition matters-especially on a 1960 Cadillac! Restoring one to this level can easily consume a couple hundred thousand dollars. Don't worry, this one is in exceptional condition. This one is featuring a rust-free body, sparkling chrome, and a mint dash pad. It's not just beautiful-it's highly functional and ready to be enjoyed.

Claimed to be a two owner car, we have receipts from its professional restoration in the early 1990s when it had 52,000 miles. Now it has just 62,800 miles, it has been obviously very well cared for since, stored in climate control.

EXTERIOR: This masterpiece of automotive design is known for its long sweeping body lines, a massive chrome presence and restrained fins giving it a sophisticated look. I am very impressed with this body, it's as long as a football field and still straight as an arrow! The panels fit precisely, the doors close like new. I don't see any signs of rust or damage. Repainted its original Platinum Gray metallic color and it's laid out evenly and polished to a glass finish. It's offset nicely with a glossy white roof. The chrome was replated, the stainless was polished, the bullets in the grille and the tail panel were reanodized. The original glass is clear, weatherstrips were replaced. It's rolling proud on a set of Coker radial whitewalls with a mint set of hubcaps.

INTERIOR: It looks just as impressive inside. The dash pad is one of the best you'll find-an important detail on a 1960 Cadillac, as most are cracked and costly to restore, often requiring months of waiting and thousands of dollars to redo. All of the interior chrome sparkles, the components fit together beautifully, and the presentation is clean and well cared for. Down on the floor is gray carpeting with white Cadillac floor mats for a classic, upscale contrast.

The seats offer excellent cushioning and have been reupholstered in gray cloth with soft white leather trim. The door panels are in mint condition, and the headliner is excellent as well. There is only some mild staining on the driver's seat upholstery; otherwise, the interior shows extremely well.

It's also highly functional. The signal-seeking radio works, along with the interior lights, power windows, and power seat.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's equally impressive under the hood. The engine compartment is exceptionally proper and orderly, with hoses and wiring routed neatly just as you'd hope to see. At its heart is the original #s matching, smooth-running 390 V8 producing 325 horsepower, presented in correct stock form with the proper air cleaner and fresh detailing.

It's well equipped with factory air conditioning that has been recently serviced, along with power steering, power brakes, and windshield washers. The metal surfaces are clean and straight, and the firewall still wears its original silver paint. Overall, it's a very well-sorted, authentic engine bay that reflects careful maintenance over the years.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean and complete. Under the deck lid is nicely painted, as are the jambs, and the trunk light works. The weatherstrip has been replaced, inside it features the full liner kit, including the cover over the spare, giving the compartment a tidy, well-finished appearance.

UNDERSIDE: Underneath is exactly what you want to see on a well-preserved Cadillac-a clean, solid, well-maintained structure with original rust-free floors and inner rockers. It still retains the factory undercoating Cadillac used to keep the ride quiet. Also keeping it quiet the dual exhaust system features both mufflers and resonators, with the resonators being brand new. New air shocks are installed and connected to a ride-leveling system, and the front end has been aligned. The brakes were recently serviced, the e-brake is hooked up.

Looking up at the powertrain, everything is clean and orderly. The original 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission shifts smoothly and even retains its 1960-dated tag on the case. Out back, the original rear end is fitted with 3.20 cruising gears, ideal for relaxed highway driving.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.

CONCLUSION: This massive sculpture of steel and chrome is pure class-especially in today's world of look-alike modern cars. Behind the wheel, you'll ride in unmatched comfort with a sense of presence that simply can't be duplicated, turning every drive into an occasion. The quality and condition of this particular example truly set it apart, allowing you to cruise with confidence and pride in one of the most distinguished automobiles of its era.
