Factory Hurst "Lightning Rod" shifters Estate sale About the 1984
Hurst/Olds: The Hurst/Olds returned as a limited-edition
performance Cutlass during the early G-body years. After the
Cutlass line split into front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive
models in 1982, Oldsmobile revived the Hurst/Olds to celebrate the
legacy of the original 1968 H/O. The Lightning Rod shifter
setup-introduced for the H/O in 1983-carried over into 1984 and
remains one of the most recognizable features of these cars. The
1984 model reversed the earlier paint scheme, making silver the
primary color with contrasting lower black trim, while keeping the
aggressive look with performance styling and signature striping.
Production was limited, with approximately 3,500 units produced in
1984, making these cars increasingly hard to find-especially in
this level of clean, original condition. Important Information -
