Gateway Classic Cars Tampa Showroom is honored to digitally present
this gorgeous 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible. Some classic cars
you just need to grab a cup of coffee and take it all in. Don't say
a word, just walk around it and enjoy everything it offers. In
1970, nothing looked like the '70 442. The combination of Rally Red
and black is simply stunning. Under the hood you'll find the
legendary 455ci big block 365hp/500tq (396021F) "E" cylinder head
powerplant. An Edelbrock aluminum intake, rebuilt carb, and ceramic
headers serve to help the torque monster breath freely. Before
bringing the 442 over to consign, a new HEI distributor was
installed along with new plugs. Within the past few years, the
transmission was rebuilt, a Moser rear diff with 3:73 gears was
added, and the shocks and springs replaced. The owner states the
power top assembly is also new making for one less thing to worry
about. Unfortunately, Oldsmobile did not keep the most accurate
records as to vehicle specifics. However, most Olds resources state
only 2336 442 (344) 455ci, automatic, convertibles were made which
begs the question; how many still remain today? To put into
perspective, that's about 1300 less units than a '70 GTO. She's not
a 100 point museum car, but what she is is a beautiful high end
driver. You can see this gorgeous ride sitting in our main Tampa
showroom.
