If you're looking for a classic pickup with a singular appearance,
and plenty of power and surefootedness to go along with it, this
1976 Ford F-100 Custom Cab 4x4 is worth a close look. You can't
help but admire the thoroughly rugged look of this truck. It's just
so well put together, sporting a custom adventure rack and dressed
in very appealing Satin Red paint that's contrasted by its white
roof. Its short bed configuration gives it a robust look, while a
tastefully elevated stance further enhances curb appeal and also
creates plenty of wheel clearance for your off-asphalt adventures.
And, for those adventures, an off-road jack is securely mounted in
place to help extricate you from particularly unforgiving
terrain.
Somewhat in contrast to its rugged exterior, this F-100 offers a
very comfortable and well-sorted driving environment. A fresh TMI
split bench sits at the center of its interior, with a sharp
woodgrain steering wheel, as well as the shifter and the lever to
unleash four-wheel drive agility, within easy reach. Further
forward, a collection of Vintage USA gauges sits in the instrument
cluster and an AM/FM stereo with an auxiliary port has been
seamlessly installed in place of the factory-issued radio. Above,
the custom suede headliner looks awesome, while below the rubber
floor makes post-adventure cleanups an easy chore.
Just a brief experience behind the wheel is all that it will take
to convince you that this vintage F-series is about way more than
sheer visual impact. It's running great, with an expansive
429-cubic inch V8 lurking beneath the hood that's equipped with
Edelbrock aluminum heads and is fed by a Holley Sniper electronic
fuel injection system that combines with an Edelbrock Performer RPM
intake manifold. The well-fortified engine exhales into a pair of
custom-fabricated shorty headers that minimize performance-sapping
back pressure and is backed by a New Process 4-speed manual
transmission that shifts without issue. Riding on a well-engineered
suspension, this classic ride has surprisingly little body roll
around corners, especially for a lifted vehicle and, with a
38-gallon fuel tank onboard, it provides an expansive range between
fill-ups. A Ford 9" posi rear end teams with four-wheel drive
that's working in top form to offer outstanding agility on roads
less travelled.
