With the introduction of the mid-engine C8, the seventh generation
of the Corvette became an instant classic. The C7 is the last of
the traditional front-engine, rear-drive setups for the famous
Bowtie brand, which is one reason this 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z51
2LT Callaway SC627 makes a great addition to any enthusiast's
collection. Beyond that, thanks to Callaway's supercharged
wizardry, this C7 goes from a high-end sports car to an extremely
rare, world-beating supercar. With just 8,108 miles on the
odometer, this Corvette's believed original Blade Silver Metallic
looks almost as good as the day it was new. Offset by black accent
trim pieces and a unique Callaway hood, this car looks stunning
from any angle, with or without its removable targa top.
Inside, we find a Jet Black stock leather interior that showcases
one of the most comfortable cockpits of any Corvette generation,
thanks to its 2LT. Sporty heated and ventilated power leather seats
comfortably hold both driver and passenger, while a digital gauge
display situated in front of the three-spoke steering wheel
provides configurable feedback at a moment's notice. Another
central display screen handles infotainment and doubles as a backup
camera display. Analog HVAC dials for temperature and fan control
make it easy to adjust the climate without taking your eyes off the
road, as does the trick Heads-Up display. Power windows, mirrors,
locks, a telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone temperature control,
navigation, and a Bose 10-speaker premium stereo with Bluetooth
connectivity make this interior easy to live with for daily
driving.
While it retains its signature front-hinges, under this Corvette's
unique Callaway hood, we find a supercharged 6.2-liter LT1 V-8
engine. In stock guise, the Gen III LT1 utilizes variable valve
technology and direct injection to deliver a stout 460 hp and 465
lb-ft of torque. However, after adding Callaway's Gen Three TVS2300
roots-style supercharger and integrated intercooler manifold, that
power goes from impressive to a superheroic 627-horsepower at 6,400
rpm and 610 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. That massive power
is funneled through an eight-speed automatic transmission before
being sent to a 2.73:1-gear, limited-slip rear end. A staggered set
of ten-spoke black wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20
inches out back is shod in sticky 245/35ZR-19 and wider 285/25ZR-20
Michelin Pilot Sport rubber, respectively.
