Initially released in 1959, the Mercedes-Benz W111 (and its higher cost W112 counterpart) continued the brand's legacy of excellence in design and engineering. First offered only as a sedan with a 2.2L Inline-6, in time the W111 range was expanded into coupe and cabriolet body styles along with increasingly large six-cylinder motors and, most notably, a 3.5L V8 in 1969. Naturally, each upgrade brought increased drivability and performance, adding to the car's already exceptional feeling of quality and luxury. While the sedans were replaced in 1968 with the W108/W109, the two-door W111 models continued production through 1971.

Entirely hand-built, the two-door W111s offered exceptional luxury with full leather interiors and a high-level of standard equipment. As with the sedan, a fully independent suspenion and four-wheel disc brakes gave the car remarkable handling in addition to its superlative ride. For the cabriolet, a fully lined, multi-layer top allowed occupants to enjoy the car in any season. Such was the complexity, only 13 cabriolets were completed per week on average, with each top requiring approximately sixteen hours of work apiece. Only 1,232 W111 Cabriolets were fitted with the 3.5L V8 from the factory and became instantly collectible - no wonder they are consistently one of the world's most valuable classic convertibles.

The sensational 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet featured here is finished in stunning gloss Black over an impeccably kept Cognac leather interior with a Black folding convertible top. This exquisite motorcar was delivered new in Beverly Hills California to Frank Sinatra who gifted it to his daughter Christina and kept in their home in Palm Springs. This exquisite example has been meticulously maintained and driven a mere 44,547 miles since new and still presents wonderfully. Accompanying this investment-grade Mercedes convertible are its original owner's manual, service records, and warranty cards in Christina Sinatra's name. A recent complete service has been performed including all new tires, ensuring this exceptional 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet is ready for its next caretaker. I personally believe the investment potential of this extremely rare and sought-after model will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
