PRICE REDUCED! This is a beautifully restored 1930 Packard Custom
Eight 740 Roadster that represents the pinnacle of Packards early
classic era design and engineering. The 740 chassis, with its
massive 140-inch wheelbase and powerful drivetrain, are one of the
most sought after early classics, and this example will not
disappoint. Powered by its venerable 384.8ci L-head inline-eight
paired with a four-speed manual transmission, the 740 Packard
drives as well as it looks. Finished in the iconic livery of
two-tone maroon body and accented with black fenders, excellent
chrome trim and gorgeous red leather interior, this Packard is a
beautiful example suitable for touring, concours, or weekend
driving. The 1930 Packard 740 Custom Eight Roadster is very rare,
as it was considered a sportscar for its time. The 740 chassis was
commonly used for large sedans or limousines but when fitted with
its roadster body, the proportions create a sexy and sporty look
that few cars could match. With its folding windshield and golf
club door, this represents the gentlemans sportscar for 1930. But
Packard did not stop at its stunning design. The 7 th Series Senior
Packards were produced with its massive and powerful eight-cylinder
engine and was introduced with a four-speed manual transmission,
thermostatically controlled grille shutters in some models, and
revised lighting with fender-mounted parking lamps. This 740
Roadster was acquired by the current owner in June 2019 from Paul
Tracy Packard Paul of Castleton-on-Hudson, New York and currently
shows 22,000 miles. Mr. Tracy shared that the Packard was
originally delivered to the first owner in Rhode Island and the
restoration was not necessarily needed since this Packard was
already in great unrestored condition. The full restoration is
believed to have taken place in the 90s and is in excellent overall
condition. This Packard is a recognized CCCA Full Classic and would
be welcomed at club events, tours and concours events. The exterior
of this Packard is in overall excellent condition. The two-tone
maroon exterior paint, black fenders with red pinstripes shows in
excellent condition with the complementary red wire wheels. The
chrome trim is in overall excellent condition. The Packard has all
of the right options including the rare and desirable Adonis
radiator mascot, jeweled dual driving lights, cowl lamps, wind
wings, dual side-mounted spares, a trunk rack and a correct Packard
luggage trunk complete with fitted its original fitted luggage. The
tan canvas convertible top is in great condition. This Packard is a
gorgeous example that would be a great addition for any Packard
enthusiast. The interior of this 740 Roadster presents well and is
in excellent condition. The red pleated leather interior is in
excellent condition featuring dual gloveboxes, door pockets, and a
1930 Standing Liberty Quarter on the shift knob. The tan carpet is
in great condition overall with some signs of wear from normal use.
The rear rumble seat is trimmed to match, and the rear compartment
is fitted with carpet, a deck light, footrest and has a golf bag
compartment with a light. The tilt-out and folding windshield, wind
wings, and overall fit of the cabin speak to Packards thoughtful
design for open touring. The engine compartment and chassis have
been beautifully restored and are presented correctly. This Packard
can be proudly displayed at most any concours event. Power is
provided by Packards massive and powerful 384.8ci inline-eight with
nine main bearings paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
The Packard has a Detroit Lubricator Model 51 updraft carburetor,
Stewart Warner vacuum tank fuel system, Northeast dual-point
