As the ultimate evolution of Jaguar's seminal postwar sports car,
the XK 150 introduced further refinement to a proven formula. Its
styling was distinguished by a wider grille opening, a single-piece
curved windscreen, and a broader bonnet seamlessly integrated into
the front fenders. Beneath the hood, the XK's standard 3.4-litre
inline-six provided performance commensurate with the model's grand
touring mission. Most notably, the XK 150 was the first production
car fitted as standard with four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes, which
were developed and validated on Jaguar's Le Mans-winning
competition cars.
This left-hand-drive XK 150 Drophead Coupe was comprehensively
restored and strategically upgraded under prior ownership. The
bodywork was refinished in classic British Racing Green over a tan
leather interior, complemented by a matching canvas top, correct
headliner, and Wilton wool carpets. Originally equipped with a
3.4-liter engine, it now benefits from the more powerful 3.8-liter
inline-six, further enhanced with Mallory ignition, a remote oil
filter, and a stainless-steel dual exhaust system. Chrome 16-inch
wire wheels fitted with new Avon tires, along with auxiliary fog
lamps, reinforce its sporting character. Discreet enhancements for
improved touring use include seatbelts, a dash-mounted Blaupunkt
AM/FM radio, and an Alpine stereo concealed within the
glovebox.
Accompanied by a spare chrome wire wheel and tire, jack, and grease
gun, this well-sorted XK 150 presents as a compelling candidate for
vintage rallies and long-distance touring events such as the
Colorado Grand or the Copper State 1000.
