This recently built Superformance GT40 MkII is an officially
licensed continuation of the legendary Le Mans-winning Ford GT40.
Finished in Jet Black with Twin Silver racing stripes, the car is
inspired by the famous 1966 Le Mans-winning GT40 driven by Bruce
McLaren and Chris Amon, capturing the unmistakable presence and
proportions of the original endurance racer.
Superformance GT40s are built under license from Safir GT40 Spares,
holder of the GT40 trademark and continuation rights, and are the
only GT40 continuation cars authorized to carry GT40-P chassis
numbers. Constructed with a monocoque chassis and period-correct
MkII bodywork, these cars are widely regarded as the most accurate
GT40 continuation models available.
This example was very recently completed and shows only around 500
miles, presenting essentially as a fresh build while already sorted
and ready to enjoy.
Power comes from a Roush 427IR V8 equipped with a Borla 8-stack
electronic fuel injection, delivering exceptional performance along
with the unmistakable look and sound of classic racing induction.
Power is delivered through a Quaife 5-speed transaxle transmission.
The GT40 comes with clear 1966 title, which makes it easy to
register in many states.
While highly faithful to the original MkII specification, this GT40
benefits from several well-chosen modern upgrades that make it far
more enjoyable to drive and live with. These include air
conditioning, a front axle lift system to help clear driveways and
speed bumps, and a backup camera for easier maneuvering. The
cockpit features a full leather interior, maintaining a
period-correct appearance while adding an extra level of
craftsmanship and comfort.
The car rides on Avon CR6ZZ tires, the classic tire choice for
GT40s, providing the correct vintage appearance along with
excellent road manners.
Combining authentic GT40 construction with modern reliability and
thoughtful usability upgrades, this Superformance MkII delivers the
look, sound, and visceral driving experience of the Le Mans legend
in a machine that can be enjoyed on the road, at shows, rallies, or
special events.
