Back in 1972, Chevrolet's K20 was built for people who worked hard,
drove harder, and didn't apologize for either. This Cheyenne Super
takes that heavy duty DNA and turns the volume all the way up,
finished in bold orange two tone paint that feels straight out of
the glory days when trucks were tools first and attitude always
came standard.
Under the hood sits an ATK 454ci big block crate engine topped with
Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Performer RPM intake, Holley Sniper
EFI, Hyperspark ignition, and stainless long tube headers. The
result is a dyno proven 539 horsepower and 537 lb ft of torque,
backed by a Turbo 400 automatic that knows exactly how to put big
block muscle to the ground.
This K20 keeps its factory four wheel drive and desirable G86 No
Spin rear axle, reinforced with heavy duty rear springs, air bag
helpers, a rear sway bar, Hydroboost brakes, and a full steering
rebuild. A fresh lift kit and 16 inch Centerline wheels give it the
right stance, while front disc brakes, power steering, and power
brakes make it surprisingly civil for something this tough.
Inside, the black and orange bucket seat interior blends factory
Cheyenne Super character with smart upgrades. Dakota Digital VHX
gauges, factory tach, comfort tilt column, and a center console
keep the cockpit purposeful. Period flavor comes courtesy of an 8
track player, while a RetroSound Bluetooth radio, sub, and amp
hidden behind the seat handle modern duty.
Factory air conditioning upgraded with an Old Air Products Sanden
compressor, dual exhaust, aluminum radiator, relocated fuel tank,
bedside toolbox, receiver hitch, and factory details like the jack
and console round out a build that respects history while
outperforming it. This is a rare K20 configuration turned into a
big block statement piece that still knows how to earn its
keep.
