For Sale at Auction: 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 in Amelia Island, Florida

Vehicle Description

Chassis No. WDB4632721X215315

At its launch, the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 was boldly described as "the most spectacular cross-country vehicle of all time." It fused the uncompromising performance ethos of AMG with more than four decades of Gelndewagen off-road capability. This experience comes from both civilian and military applications, delivering exceptional comfort while remaining capable of conquering virtually any terrain or climate. Once back on the tarmac, AMG muscle transforms this extreme machine. It offers surprising versatility and an impressive on-road pace despite weighing an impressive four-and-a-half-tons.

Standing over seven feet tall, nearly seven feet wide, and almost 20 feet long-over three and a half feet longer than a standard G-Class-giving 6x6 a commanding presence. Built on Mercedes-Benz's proven military modular platform, the G 63 AMG 6x6 is the first civilian model from the marque to use the innovative portal axles. By raising the axle centerline, ground clearance increases by nearly half a meter. Power is routed through five locking differentials and all six wheels, with a 30:40:30 torque split. Each axle features independent suspension, providing excellent wheel articulation and surface grip, even in tough terrain. The closely spaced rear axles-just 1,100 mm apart-work with hlins bypass shock absorbers to further enhance control.

An onboard tire inflation system allows cabin-mounted pressure adjustment at the touch of a button, independently controlling the front and rear axles. Supported by beadlock wheels, a high-capacity air pump, and four 20-liter air tanks, the system can reinflate tires from as little as 0.5 bar for sand driving to the recommended 1.8 bar for road use in approximately 20 seconds-dramatically quicker than conventional setups.

Finished in Designo Mystic Blue, this European market 6x6 was delivered to its first owner in Dubai in December 2013. Fitting any luxurious Mercedes, this 6x6's amenities include a Harman Kardon premium audio system with COMAND and navigation, dual-zone climate control, and four individually adjustable, heated, and cooled bucket seats. On 28 August 2015, a digital copy of the Job Card from Brabus Middle East shows this example was brought in for extensive upgrades. Well known for their performance upgrades, Brabus didn't disappoint with this example that was upgraded to the formidable B63S-700 specification. This upgraded installing a custom-designed ECU, larger turbochargers, new intake air pipes with gold heat shielding, an additional air-to-water intercooler, high-performance catalytic converters with 75 mm, lower-resistance stainless-steel downpipes, and butterfly valves to route the exhaust through the side pipes when desired. These upgrades increased horsepower by 23 percent, bringing the total to an impressive 700. Additional vents have been added to the hood and the tops of the fenders to help keep this potent V8 running cool.

While at Brabus, the interior was retrimmed with black Brabus fine leather with a hex-grid pattern contrasting red stitching. The pattern continues through the door panels, with the center console and steering wheels using the same black leather and red stitching. The black leather headrests prominently display the vehicle's unique attributes with the Brabus "B" logo in red stitching. The interior is completed with carbon fiber trim on the center console and a black Alcantara headliner. The wheels were upgraded to black Hutchinson beadlock wheels and Brabus center caps, and are currently shod with 37 by 13.5-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires. The exterior of the car also received additional LED lighting, Brabus badging on the rear, a red G700 badge in the grill, and a "B" in place of the Mercedes logo throughout the car.

In April 2016, the car was sent to Kuwait with its second owner, where it remained until December 2020. It was imported into the United States in October 2021 under the Show or Display exemption, as confirmed by the digital copy of the accompanying approval letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). A sticker in the engine compartment notes that J.K. Technologies, L.L.C. of Baltimore, Maryland modified the car to meet EPA emissions standards, a process completed on 5 June 2022 as confirmed by a digital letter from the company.

Covering just 26,053 miles at the time of cataloging, select few 6x6 have been upgraded to the potent Brabus B63S-700 specification. With this example likely being the most unique of any 6x6, it only adds to the alure of it being "the most spectacular cross-country vehicle of all time."
