The Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG launched in 2004 as a coupe,
celebrating the brand's triumphs in the Deutsche Tourenwagen
Meisterschaft (DTM). All 100 coupes sold out immediately, and in
2005, Mercedes followed up with an even rarer Cabriolet version.
Limited to just 80 units, the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet became the
world's fastest four-seat convertible with a top speed of 186 mph,
drawing high-profile owners including Juan Pablo Montoya and Mika
Hkkinen.
Developed by HWA AG and AMG, the car was powered by a 5.4-liter
supercharged V8, producing 582 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
It could sprint from zero-to-62 mph in just four seconds, with its
performance matched by an aggressive design inspired by the DTM
race car. Carbon fiber body panels, a prominent rear aerofoil, and
widened arches complemented the car's motorsport DNA. The widened
fenders house unique AMG double six-spoke 19x9-inch front and
20x10-inch rear wheels. The larger wheels not only improved grip
but also allowed for massive carbon fiber brakes with 360 mm front
rotors with six-piston calipers and 330 mm rotors with four-piston
rear calipers.
Inside, the cabin was fitted with leather-clad AMG sport bucket
seats, a suede-trimmed racing steering wheel, and four-point
harnesses to complete the race-ready feel. In place of a
conventional ashtray, a row of switches lets drivers instantly
disable traction and stability control and adjust transmission
settings, unleashing the car's full potential at the flick of a
switch.
Delivered new in Germany in September 2006, this particular CLK DTM
AMG Cabriolet was finished in Iridium Silver, echoing the legendary
Silver Arrow racers, while the interior was appointed in Black
Alcantara to complete its sporting character. It remained with its
original owner until 2011 before being exported to New Zealand with
its next caretaker. In August 2024, it was exported to the United
States by its current owner under the Show and Display Rule.
G&K Automotive Conversion Inc. of Santa Ana, California
certified the car to be EPA and CARB compliant in October 2024.
Accompanying the car is its importation documents and a letter from
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
confirming its entry approval.
Today, this rarely seen AMG Cabriolet displays just 5,460 miles at
the time of cataloging. In January 2025, the car was serviced by
the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center of Long Beach, California in
preparation for sale. It additionally benefits from a multi-step
detail and full paint correction by I am Detailing of Costa Mesa,
California. As the pinnacle of the track-focused CLK lineage, the
DTM AMG Cabriolet offers a visceral, open-air driving experience
that remains unmatched in its rarity and presence. Unavailable in
the United States when new, this example is one of only a handful
ever to be offered for sale to U.S. collectors through the Show and
Display rule. With its motorsport pedigree, top-down thrills, and
exclusivity, this low-mileage example provides an exciting
opportunity to acquire one of AMG's most potent creations.
