INTRODUCTION: This is a top of the line Superformance, the only
Cobra replica licensed by Carroll Shelby licensing Inc. It is very
authentic in appearance from the Smiths gauges to the racing
decals. This one features front and rear independent suspension and
an aluminum 427 motor!
EXTERIOR: At first glance, you'd be hard-pressed to tell this car
from an original-it was built using exact dimensions and correct
trim pieces throughout. The body is in excellent condition; after a
thorough inspection, I found no damage or stress cracking, and
everything fits exactly as it should. The repaint in stunning
Guardsman Blue Metallic is beautifully executed, with a deep,
glossy clear coat that's been fully polished. The racing stripes
and Shelby number 98 are painted on-not decals-and are smooth to
the touch. Only the tiniest rock chips can be found if you look
closely around the front end. Vintage-style racing decals add
period flair, while the chrome sparkles throughout. Details include
quick-jack bumpers, a pop-up racing-style functional gas cap, a
roll-bar hoop, wing windows, and windshield tint visors. This one
is equipped with a full convertible top and side windows which you
don't see too often. The car rides on correct-style spinner
knock-off wheels-complete with safety wire-wrapped in wide Mickey
Thompson performance tires out back, giving it an aggressive,
race-ready stance.
INTERIOR: The interior is just as impressive as the exterior,
featuring an authentic, period-correct appearance right down to the
proper knobs, toggle switches, and Smiths gauges. It is fully
carpeted and presents like new throughout. Both door panels are
equipped with map pockets and leather door-pull straps, staying
true to the original design. The seats are upholstered in genuine
leather and paired with racing-style seat belts that hold you
firmly in place. An original-style shifter maintains the correct
look, even though it operates a modern 5-speed transmission.
Additional details include a chrome emergency brake handle and a
wood-rimmed, three-spoke Shelby steering wheel. A discreet 12-volt
receptacle has been added under the dash for convenient phone
charging without detracting from the car's vintage appearance.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is where it gets truly insane! Power comes
from an all-aluminum 427 cubic-inch V8 producing an impressive 530
horsepower. It's topped with aluminum heads and an Edelbrock RPM
Air-Gap dual-plane intake, feeding a massive dual-feed Holley
carburetor with an electric choke. Ignition is handled by an MSD
system, and spent gases exit through a set of heat wrapped headers.
Cooling is equally well sorted, featuring an aluminum radiator and
water pump with dual electric fans, and an expansion tank. So this
beast runs as cool as it does strong. It's practically brand new
looking under the hood, dressed with a vintage-style aluminum air
cleaner and chrome valve covers for a period-correct performance
look. A modern serpentine belt system and power brakes round out
the package, blending classic appearance with upgraded drivability
and reliability.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is meticulously finished off- fully lined in
carpet with bound edges. The convertible top and windows are in
storage bags and fit in the trunk so you can take it with you.
There's also a battery disconnect.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath, the car is built around a Superformance
chassis with fully independent front and rear suspension. It
features tubular control arms at all four corners, adjustable
coilover gas shocks, and front and rear sway bars for excellent
handling. Rack-and-pinion steering provides precise, modern road
feel. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes, including
inboard rear brakes, along with a fully functional emergency brake.
Looking up at the drivetrain, you'll find an extra-capacity oil
pan, a high-torque Summit starter, and a Tremec 5-speed manual
transmission with a hydraulic clutch and heavy-duty scatter shield.
Power is sent to a Dana Spicer rear end equipped with a 3.46
Posi-traction differential.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: It's hard to imagine another car on the planet that
delivers a more exhilarating experience-the brutal power, the deep
growl of the exhaust, sports-car handling that keeps you low and
planted to the pavement, and the pure thrill of open-air driving
with the wind rushing past you.
