GR Auto Gallery is excited to present this wildly built 1969
Volkswagen Karmann Ghia finished in an understated Olive Green that
does a great job of hiding just how serious this car really is. The
classic Ghia lines remain intact, but the black and chrome wheels
give it a tougher stance, while the black top keeps the look clean
and timeless. At a glance it still feels vintage and elegant, but a
closer look hints that this is far from a stock cruiser.
Powering this Ghia is a heavily modified 2276ci I4 paired with a 4
speed manual transmission, and the numbers are nothing short of
wild. With an estimated 300 horsepower, this setup includes
turbocharging, intercooling, fuel injection, and methanol
injection, all tuned to run on E85. Internally, it features Scat
rods and crank along with a MegaSquirt 2 computer managing
everything. This is a serious performance build that transforms the
driving experience into something completely unexpected for a car
of this size and era.
Inside, the car blends vintage style with race inspired function.
Tan leather seats keep things comfortable while adding a classy
contrast to the exterior. A wooden steering wheel brings in a
classic sports car feel, while the black roll cage and 4 point
Mastercraft safety harness make it clear this car was built to be
driven hard. Additional touches like the mounted fire extinguisher
show real attention to safety, and the overall layout still feels
cohesive rather than stripped or unfinished.
What really sets this Karmann Ghia apart is how thoughtfully the
performance theme is carried through. It comes with a tuner laptop
for dialing things in, along with a BMW helmet that completes the
track ready vibe. The Karmann Ghia has always been loved for its
Italian inspired design and lightweight chassis, and this build
takes that foundation and pushes it into an entirely different
league. It is equal parts show car, engineering project, and
adrenaline machine, perfect for someone who wants something truly
different from the usual classic car experience.
