This 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS is the kind of car Detroit doesn't
build anymore-and the kind enthusiasts still chase. Sold new in
Oklahoma and later cruising Kansas and Illinois, this fourth-gen SS
shows just 60k miles and wears its Bright Rally Red paint like a
warning label. Final-year cars hit different, and this one carries
that end-of-an-era energy hard.
Under the hood lives the legendary 5.7L LS1 V8, factory-rated at
335 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, paired to a 4-speed
automatic and a Torsen limited-slip putting power down the right
way. It's breathing through an SLP cat-back exhaust, so it doesn't
just move fast-it sounds pissed doing it. Recent maintenance since
2021 includes fresh fluids, intake manifold and valley pan gaskets,
fuel filter, oil pressure sender, plugs, and wires. It's been kept
ready, not parked and forgotten.
The SS Performance/Appearance Package brings the goods: hood scoop,
SS rear spoiler, performance suspension with stiffer springs and
bushings, revised shocks, and a larger front sway bar. It sits on
17" chrome SS wheels wrapped in 275/40 s, with four-wheel ABS disc
brakes backing it up. Grip, stance, and stop-all accounted for.
Inside, it's clean and unapologetically early-2000s muscle. Neutral
leather seats, power driver seat, cruise control, ice-cold A/C, and
a Monsoon sound system upgraded with a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer
head unit and later Keen Audio Level 2.5 speaker upgrades with
tweeters. The factory radio is included if originality is your
thing. LED upgrades throughout the interior and gauge cluster
sharpen the cockpit without turning it tacky.
Visually, this SS has been dialed in with purpose. Smoked
headlights and markers, smooth SS grille and emblem, black mesh
hood vent, LED lighting upgrades across the board, and a short
aluminum antenna clean up the lines. The sail panels, front bumper,
and rockers were refinished in red, tightening the overall
presentation.
This Camaro SS no fluff, no excuses-just a low-mile, final-year LS1
SS that looks right, sounds right, and still throws punches.
