For Sale: 1970 Datsun 240Z in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This show quality 1970 Datsun 240Z Series 1 is an early build with a rare color combination and matching-numbers drivetrain. Approximately 17,005 units of the 1970 Datsun 240Z were produced for the initial model year, marking the beginning of the highly S30 series. These early-production models often referred to as Series 1 (featuring distinct fender vents and 5-digit speedometer), are highly sought after by collectors. From the information gathered only a handful of 1970 Datsun 240Z Series 1 with a White exterior and Blue interior exist. As the original Warranty and Service Booklet documents this example was originally sold new at VHY Motors located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was sold on June 25th, 1970 to David Ashby who lived in Honolulu, Hawaii. The original Owner's Manual and Warranty Booklet are included. As the original Pacific Nissan Purchase Order and Get Ready Authorization documents it was sold as a used vehicle to Clifford and Osvelia Deeds who lived in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 27th, 1990. Clifford and Osvelia eventually relocated to Miami, Florida in the late 1990's. An original service invoice from The Z Shop located in Miami, Florida dated September 3rd, 1999 is included. A copy of a Florida title was issued on December 28th, 2001, an original Florida Automobile Insurance Card from February 24th, 2004 and an original Florida Vehicle Registration issued on May 10th, 2004 are also included. As a Bill of Sale indicates they sold the car to Allan Robbins who lived in Miami, Florida on May 6th, 2005. Allan moved to Rochester, New York shortly after. An original New York Insurance Card issued on June 14th, 2005 is included. The car was eventually sold to Russell Diliberto who lives in Webster, New York in 2017. Russell spent the next 8 years restoring the vehicle to show quality standards and it was completed in late 2024. New York Registrations from 2017, 2019 and 2022 along with a New York State Insurance Card issued on July 20th, 2020 are included. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the vehicle directly from Russell in May of 2025. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $10,623.90 in service and detail which is documented with an invoice that's included. February of 2026 is the first time MS CLASSIC CARS has listed it for sale. The current odometer reads 63,041 miles which are believed to be original.
 

The exterior of this '70 Datsun 240Z is very handsome with its factory stylish design and color combination. The most defining feature of the earliest models is the presence of two horizontal vents located on the rear hatch just below the glass and the “240Z” C-pillar badges. During the restoration process the original sheet metal was stripped, primed and repainted in its original color of code #904 White. The rear tail light panel was repainted in the correct shade of black. The paintwork was completed in 2022 and is in beautiful condition. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. A walk-around presentation video is provided in the gallery. The front windshield was replaced new. The Nissan Temperlite stamped door glass, quarter glass and rear hatch glass is in very good original condition. The glass trim, front bumper and rear bumper are also in very good original condition. The front and rear bumper rubber bumper guards were replaced new. Some of the new exterior trim pieces include the rubber glass seals, Sylvania headlights, parking light bezels, door handles, antenna, tail light bezels and emblems. The power antenna is operational. The car rolls on the original factory 14” date-coded black steel wheels with ultra-rare original Datsun hubcaps. The wheels are mounted to new Vredesten Sprint Classic 175-HR14 tires that were added by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS.
 

The interior of this'70 Datsun 240Z is in beautiful condition throughout. The blue vinyl interior is widely considered the rarest color. Prior to the restoration the interior was in very good overall condition which would've reflected the believed mileage. The original Vin Identification Tag is affixed to the driver's door jam. The original crack-free black dash, gauges, heating controls, center console and seat belts are in very good condition. Everything is in working order including the center light, dash lights, gauges, heating system radio and power antenna. The original steering wheel is also in very good condition. During the restoration process the door panels, seats and carpeting was removed. The floors were covered with Kilmat automotive insulation for sound deadening. The blue door panels, black arm rests and black carpeting was replaced new. The original seats were rebuilt and reupholstered. The diamond-stitched blue vinyl on the center tunnel and rear strut towers is a period-correct look that complements the car's heritage. The upholstery around the rear strut towers does have a few minor tears as seen in the photos. The rear compartment panels and carpeting was also replaced. The original tool bag with tools is stored in compartment behind the driver's seat. The original jack is stored in compartment behind the passenger seat. The spare tire well was left original and covered with Cool It Thermo Tec insulation. It's equipped with a black steel spare wheel that's mounted to an Atlas XII All Season 175-75-14 tire.
 

The painted engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The backside of the hood, firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was repainted body color. The car is powered by the original matching-numbers 2.4L L24 Inline 6 cylinder engine with dual SU carburetors. The engine was completely rebuilt and repainted in the correct lighter blue color. It was decorated with the correct Nissan 2400-OHC valve cover and orange air cleaner. The oil pump and carburetors were also rebuilt. The engine was factory rated at 151hp @5,600 rpm and 146 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm. Everything in the engine bay was restored or replaced utilizing many correct parts throughout. Many of the parts were ordered from the Z Car Depot such as the distributor, coil and spark plug wires. Many parts such as the hood latch assembly, hinges, pop rod, hose clamps, screws and nuts were painted for a factory-correct presentation. The Nihon radiator was flushed and cleaned. The water pump, radiator fan and rubber roses were replaced. The engine runs and sounds excellent through the exhaust system with Nichira black muffler with chrome tip. The engine is coupled to the original 4-speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly. New decals were including paint code; air filter and radiator were added. A new NAPA Legend battery was added by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The hood light is in working order.
 

The undercarriage is very clean throughout. During the restoration process the floors were cleaned and resprayed with textured black paint. Miscellaneous parts were decorated with yellow factory assembly paint markings. The steering system and braking system was completely gone through including the Bendix brake booster and master cylinder. The suspension was completely gone through as well including new tie rods, ball joints, polyurethane bushings and shocks. MS CLASSIC CARS added a new rear drum brake kit and gas tank. This car handles the road very well.
