While the Chevelle name has been long gone from Chevy's showroom
for decades, its legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of muscle
car enthusiasts everywhere. One look at this 1971 Chevrolet
Chevelle Restomod, and it's easy to see why this car has been so
lusted after. Fully repainted in a beautiful, vibrant blue,
complete with light grey stripes, this Chevelle has a mere 2,401
miles since it was rebuilt. With its cowl hood, blacked-out grille,
stripes, and badging, this Chevelle definitely qualifies as an SS
Tribute car, showcasing classic lines while not-so-subtly hinting
at modern technology through LED headlights and sequential LED
taillights.
Inside, we find an incredibly inviting factory-style dark blue
interior. A cloth/vinyl split-bench seat, complete with headrests,
and a matching rear bench seat leave plenty of room for the whole
family. A wood-rimmed, power-assisted steering wheel sits ahead of
a set of Dakota Digital gauges featuring an 8,000-rpm tachometer
and a 160-mph speedometer. A quadruplet of auxiliary gauges sits
offset to the right, providing all the info a driver could want,
all in one place. A sliding HVAC setup provides welcome AC for the
summer months, while a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth head unit offers
plenty of entertainment by powering kick panel and rear package
tray speakers, along with a truck-mounted Alpine amplifier.
Under that expansive hood, we find a late-model 5.3-liter overhead
valve V-8 engine. With its composite intake manifold, electronic
fuel injection, large aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, shorty
headers, X-pipe dual exhaust, and sweet-sounding MagnaFlow
mufflers, this Chevelle sounds as good as any Golden Age big block.
Power is funneled through a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission
before heading to the ten-bolt rear end, which transfers power to
the pavement via a set of big, polished 20-inch Ridler wheels shod
in 275/35R-18 low-profile rubber. At the same time, a narrower set
of 245/40R-18 tires and 18-inch wheels handles steering duties up
front.
