This 2015 Mustang 2.3L comes with a great story. When the new Sixth
Generation Mustang was launched, we approached world famous COBB
Tuning about building a prototype performance Mustang using the
EcoBoost 2.3 L engine. Our goal was to deliver V-8 performance from
the twin cam, 4 cylinder engine without modifying the internals.
COBB accepted the challenge and created the components to make it
happen. The 2015 Mustang was purchased new with the Ford
Performance Package option (wheels, tires, brakes and prototype
components, hand-built by COBB Tuning's R&D Center) and
installed at their tuning facility in Dallas. The end result was
amazing. Over 400 lb. ft. of torque at the rear wheels makes this
dyno tuned Mustang quicker than many cars with more than twice the
displacement. Originally created as a prototype for models exported
to Asia, this one-of-a-kind Mustang was used to demonstrate the
performance potential and quality that COBB builds into all of
their components. Hand-built prototype components, manufactured by
COBB's research and development team in Austin, were installed and
dyno tuned by COBB Tuning in Dallas to create this prototype 2.3L
EcoBoost Mustang. Ford factory options include a 2.3 L EcoBoost
engine, six speed automatic with paddle shift, air conditioning,
power seats, power locks, back up camera, power rack and pinion
steering, bigger 4 wheel power disc brakes, 20" wheels, sway bars,
shocks, and springs, COBB upgrades include a much larger
intercooler, which solves the "heat soak" problem with the stock
unit, a larger 3" exhaust system to reduce back pressure, and a new
cold air induction to improve air flow. What makes it all work is
COBB Tuning's expertise in 4 cylinder performance. Along with the
purchase, you get COBB's AccessPort TM, featuring a variety of
custom "tunes" allowing you to choose from three custom dyno tunes,
plus the original Ford factory tune. Select the tune and fuel grade
you want to match the type of driving you are doing; a performance
tune using 93 octane, or an economy tune using 87 octane for
maximum fuel economy on the highway. Now, you might think that with
these modifications, the car was driven hard. Actually, it wasn't.
Just over 15,000 miles are on the odometer, and the vast majority
are highway miles. Never abused, always garaged and well cared for,
this Mustang is in like new condition. Don't miss this opportunity
to own a one-of-a-kind prototype Mustang! This Mustang is located
in Phoenix, AZ and is available for inspection.
