While originally intended solely as a homologation special, the 911 Turbo (internal designation 930) was such a success both in terms of direct sales and in marketing, Porsche’s engineers were tasked with updating the car after two years in production. Thusly, for 1978, the Turbo 3.3 was announced. In addition to its larger displacement, the car now featured an air-to-air intercooler, a re-profiled “tea tray” rear spoiler, and larger, more powerful brakes. Unfortunately, in 1980, emissions regulations forced Porsche to pull the model from the US market – not to mention the brand was increasing their focus on the 928.
Thankfully, the decision was made to return the 911 Turbo to our shores in 1986. In comparison to previous Turbos, the new car offered interior and styling updates in line with the standard Carrera 3.2 and, for 1987, was made available in Targa and Cabriolet body styles for the first time. Like all 911 Turbos, the 930 is an immensely capable road car that can be enjoyed as a daily driver just as easily as it can be used on a track. As always, low mileage and vehicles with special options bring the most money and are typically the best choices from an investment standpoint.
The marvellous 1987 1987 Porsche 930 911 Turbo 3.3 Sunroof Coupe features here is displayed in classic and highly desirable Guards Red over a Black leather interior. Delivered new to Foreign Motors in Boston after completing production in October 1986, this remarkable Porsche was optioned with heated front seats with adjustable lumbar support, a power sunroof, and a limited slip differential and featured an MSRP of $61,908 - approximately $181,881.55 today. The Turbo remained in New Englad under the care of its first two owners, receiving the best of care and used only sparingly. During its second owner's stewardship, the car appeared in "Sports Car International" for an article detailing its owner, Steven Leed's, collection.
In 2011, the Porsche found a new home in Arizona where it remained until our acquisition. This exquisite investment-grade Porsche has been driven a mere 8,302 miles from new and is among one of the finest examples to come to market in years. I personally believe the investment potential of this iconic motorcar will grow beyond your imagination. We are proud to offer this remarkable, low-mileage 930 Turbo to the most discerning collector, investor, or enthusiast who demands only the absolute best - this represents an incredible opportunity to own a landmark 911 Turbo with exceptional provenance, originality, and undeniable investment potential!
