Perhaps one of the most famous models to ever come from Mercedes-Benz' factories in Stuttgart, the W198 300 SL "Gullwing" was built as a production variant of the W194 racing car of the same name. Utilizing mechanical direct fuel-injection, the car produced 240hp (a racing camshaft could be fitted for even more power) and featured dry sump lubrication. Much like later Ferraris and the Jaguar E-Type, the 300 SL was available with both steel and lightweight alloy bodies to cater to those looking to race their car.
