Conceived at the dawn of the 21st century, the Ford GT emerged as a
statement of intent rather than a nostalgic exercise-an
unapologetic return to the spirit that once humbled Ferrari at Le
Mans. Drawing inspiration from the legendary GT40 without
attempting to replicate it outright, the GT combined unmistakable
heritage cues with contemporary engineering. Power came from a
supercharged 5.4-liter V8 fitted with a Lysholm Twin-Screw
supercharger, delivering 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
Routed through a Ricardo six-speed manual gearbox and a helical
limited-slip differential, the result was genuine supercar
performance, with the run to 60 mph taking 3.3 seconds and on to a
top speed of 205 mph.
A Marti Report sourced from internal Ford production information
shows the Ford left the Wixom Plant on 21 April 2005 finished in
Midnight Blue Metallic with White racing stripes. Limited to a
brief two-year production run from 2005 to 2006, a mere 391 were so
finished in the United States' international racing livery-serving
as a rolling tribute to the company's golden era of international
motorsport. Furthermore, it is a desirable "four-option" car fitted
with a McIntosh Audiophile stereo with CD player, BBS Painted
Forged Lightweight Aluminum Wheels, Red-painted Brembo Brake
Calipers, and the aforementioned painted racing stripes. An Ebony
Black leather-trimmed interior finalized the build specification as
outlined in its Marti Report.
Its clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report reveals early ownership in
upstate New York, retained by this owner until 2009, during which
time they took great pains to preserve the car with judicious use
while accumulating less than 3,000 miles during their ownership. In
2022, the GT was acquired by the Florida-based consignor, a
well-known automotive aficionado and car collector. Today it
features just 4,169 miles at the time of cataloging and a recent
inspection at Holler Ford of Maitland, Florida that included the
installation of an Iconisus forged wheel and tire package with
fresh Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Additionally, the sale includes
the GT's original set of optional forged BBS wheels with their
original Goodyear tires still mounted.
The first-generation Ford GT is among the most coveted supercars of
the modern era, revered for its uncompromising engineering that
delivers razor-sharp performance and a visceral driving experience.
With low miles, finished in classic colors, and factory fitted with
all four options, this example is offered as a blue-chip modern
supercar and a cornerstone of any serious automotive
collection.
