Assembled at the Modena factory in March 1972, this Maserati Bora
was specified in the sophisticated combination of Celeste Chiaro
(Light Blue) with a Black Leather interior. It is one of just 289
examples powered by the 310-horsepower 4.7-liter Tipo AM/107/07
dual-overhead-cam V8 with four twin-choke Weber 42 DCNF
carburetors. As previously noted by Fabio Collina of Maserati
Classiche, this example, with its ZF five-speed manual
transmission, was delivered new in Italy with metric
instrumentation and sleek European-market chrome bumpers.
By 2015, the car was purchased by the previous Miami, Florida-based
collector who commissioned extensive restorative work on this Bora.
Beginning with the bodywork, it was refinished as originally
specified in Celeste Chiaro, while the interior received fresh
Black leather on the seats and door panels. The interior also
benefits from the installation of a new headliner and carpeting.
Previous research notes that once the cosmetic work was completed,
the engine was overhauled along with the brake system.
Once the restoration work was completed, the Bora was brought back
to the U.S., where it was purchased by the current owner in August
2022. Under their care, the car is reported to have benefited from
work to the cooling system with the replacement of hoses, a water
pump and radiator. Additional work is said to include a tune-up to
the ignition system with new points, condenser, spark plugs, and
wires along with replacing the top carburetor gaskets.
Finished in as originally specified, in rarely seen and
sophisticated Celeste Chiaro, it retains its simple, yet elegant
Giugiaro designed features that have captivated enthusiasts since
leaving Modena. It would make an excellent addition to any
collection seeking a quintessentially Italian exotic.
