The BMW Z8 was a clean-sheet, halo roadster that translated Henrik
Fisker's Z07 concept into a production vehicle, while also
channeling the elegant spirit of the 1950s 507 with its chrome side
vents and delightfully retro cabin details. Built in limited
numbers, the Z8 paired well-executed minimalist Bauhaus design with
M Power performance, courtesy of the 4.9-liter, 394-horsepower S62
V8 from the contemporary M5 and an analog six-speed manual
transmission. Combined with its generous standard equipment
including power seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, and ample
storage space, the Z8 was the sophisticated touring sports car for
the 21st century.
This particular Z8 was completed at the factory in Munich, Germany,
destined for the U.S. market and finished in popular Titanium
Silver Metallic with a matching hardtop over a Black Nappa leather
interior. The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates
that the car was initially titled in New Jersey, where it remained
until changing hands to a new owner in Connecticut in 2005, showing
6,796 miles at the time. The Z8 received routine maintenance from
BMW of Ridgefield over the following years before passing to the
current Rhode Island-based caretaker in 2012 with approximately
29,500 miles. Since then, the car has been diligently maintained by
BMW of Newport and Metric Motors, with major items completed within
the last 7,000 miles including four new tires, a clutch service
with new pressure plate, disc, and release bearing, refinished
wheels, powder-coated brake calipers with new rotors, pads, and
hardware, and installation of a desirable front strut brace with
updated heavy-duty strut mounts.
Now offered with 36,386 miles at the time of cataloging, this Z8
with its potent V8 and engaging six-speed manual transmission is
primed for enjoyment on quick, twisty roads with the top down. It
is offered with factory delivery accessories including its owner's
manuals, tools, BMW battery charger, first aid kit, tonneau cover,
and more.
