For Sale at Auction: 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS in Amelia Island, Florida

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Salon in 1985, ten years after the introduction of the 308, the 328 debuted an elegantly updated version of the Pininfarina wedge design worn by its predecessor. With its improved cabin ergonomics and more powerful 3.2-liter V8, the 328 was stunningly beautiful, well balanced, and relatively easy to maintain, and it remains so today.

This exceptional U.S.-market 328 GTS, chassis 75184, was completed in October 1987 in the quintessential pairing of Rosso Corsa over Beige leather upholstery. Ferrari Classiche certified, it is surely one of the finest examples of this celebrated model to reach the market in recent years. The 328 was delivered new to F.A.F. Motorscars of Tucker, Georgia, and sold on 18 December 1987, to its first owner, Frank F. Callaway of nearby Dunwoody. Remarkably lightly used from the outset, an invoice on file documents that by October 2002 the Ferrari was in Portland, Oregon, where it received a major cam-belt service by ATD while showing just 2,993 miles.

By 2007, the 328 GTS was offered by Motor Cars International in Springfield, Missouri, displaying only 4,004 miles from new. It was purchased there by Michael Mazzaferro, who had the car fully detailed and fitted with paint protection film before exporting it to Canada, with original purchase and export paperwork retained in the file.
Invoices from Ferrari Maserati Quebec during Mazzaferro's tenure show that the 328 served more as an object of admiration rather than a mode of transportation, its mileage increasing only modestly to 4,352 miles by August 2021. The service documentation records an engine-out timing belt service with water pump/thermostat replacement, installation of a Tubi Style exhaust, and a new clutch and flywheel in the summer of 2008. A subsequent timing-belt change was completed in August 2015, and the front suspension forks were replaced under recall in August 2021.

In April 2016, this exceptional 328 GTS was granted Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming its status as a matching-numbers car that retains its original engine and transmission. The following winter, it was invited to participate in a Guinness World Record attempt during the 2016 Ferrari Finali Mondiali (Ferrari World Finals) at Daytona International Speedway, during which 809 Ferraris paraded on the high banks of the circuit.

Today, this 328 GTS shows just 4,410 miles at the time of cataloging, documented by the many service records on file. It comes complete with its Classiche "Red Book," service and warranty booklet, owner's manual, Blaupunkt radio manual, folder of invoices, jack, and tool roll. Desirable as a mid-engine V8, open-top Ferrari in its own right, this preservation-grade, Classiche-certified example of the popular 328 would be a worthy addition to any collection of low-mileage sports cars.
