Among the most coveted variants of Ferrari's 550 Maranello are the
ultra-limited World Speed Record (WSR) and Michael Schumacher
editions-factory-built, uniquely-specified takes on Maranello's V12
grand tourer, produced in just 33 and 19 examples respectively.
Created for clients who wanted the same equipment from Carrozzeria
Scaglietti without model-specific badging, a discreet series of
approximately 49 550s were produced with many of these same
exclusive options.
Chassis 117925 is a standout example of this uncommon
specification, pairing the desirable Fiorano Handling Package (FHP)
with the ultra-rare, leather-trimmed "Stradale" roll bar, an option
more commonly associated with the WSR/Schumacher-badged cars. The
Fiorano Handling Package sharpened the 550's character through a
quicker steering ratio and revised rack, stiffer springs, a thicker
rear anti-roll bar, upgraded brake pads, and revised ECU tuning,
delivering a noticeably more responsive feel from Ferrari's last
truly analog front-engine V12 GT. Completing the exterior are
red-finished Ferrari-branded brake calipers and "Scuderia Ferrari"
fender shields.
A European-market car finished in Nero (Black) over a matching Nero
cabin featuring Daytona-style seats, chassis 117925 was delivered
via Alfred Gohm GmbH on 7 February 2000 to its first owner in
Germany. On 20 October 2004, the car sold to a Ferrari enthusiast
in Spain where it was carefully maintained for the next 18 years,
documented by a clean EU CARFAX Vehicle History report and numerous
stamps in its service and warranty booklet. In January 2023, the
car was acquired by its current, U.S.-based collector-owner and
entrusted to respected Ferrari specialists in the Modena
area-including Auto Elite, Carrozzeria Europa, and Leather by
Design-for a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment to
concours standards.
The cabin was retrimmed in black leather in May 2023, and the body
was subsequently disassembled and refinished in its correct Nero
finish in December 2023 with all seals and weatherstripping
renewed. In September 2023, the suspension and braking systems were
overhauled, while the 5.5-liter F133A V12 received a major service
that included a thorough reseal, replacement timing belts, head
gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and drive belts. In February 2024,
the fluid in the six-speed manual transaxle was replaced, along
with the installation of four new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires
later that year.
The 550 made its post-refurbishment debut at the REB Concours at
Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta in June 2023, where it received
the well-deserved "Roma Eternal Beauties" award in the Youngtimer
category owing to its exceptional presentation. Chassis 117925 was
then submitted for Ferrari's rigorous Classiche certification,
culminating in its "Red Book" being issued in late 2024, which
documents that the car retains its original engine, as-delivered
color combination, and that the distinctive roll bar is factory
equipment. Now displaying 84,417 kilometers at cataloging and
accompanied by its Classiche Red Book, Schedoni leather tool kit,
leather manuals folio, and car cover, this is, unquestionably, one
of the finest and most compellingly specified 550 Maranellos
available today.
