This mint restored example was originally sold new in Livermore,
California. The original owner had the car until 1986, and then
sold it to Don Mettes of San Ramon, California. The car was then
sold to Ralph Engelstad of the Imperial Palace in 1996. In 1998,
the car was purchased by the Blackhawk Collection in Danville,
California. The car then went to Bill Jacobs of Joliet, Illinois in
1998. This exceptional example has won over 40 first place awards
including 3 first place awards at the Palo Alto Concours
d'Elegance, 2 first place awards at the Lafayette Concours
d'Elegance, 1st place at the St. Mary's Concours d'Elegance and
Best of Show in Los Angeles,
Seattle, San Francisco, Good Guys Bug Bash and most recently was an
Elite winner at a VW show here in Las Vegas. It has been featured
