With its aggressively lifted stance exposing a set of beefy, Super
Swamper off-road tires that show plenty of tread, this 1985
Chevrolet K10 Silverado 4x4 has an unmistakable, "ready for action"
appearance that really suits it. It's a great-looking truck and
while you can see subtle evidence of its rugged abilities being put
to use, with its factory-correct light blue metallic paint
presenting well and its bumpers and upgraded chrome body trim, a
by-product of its top-tier Silverado designation, in solid shape.
Better still, this truck's rugged good looks come with a solid
running drivetrain.
The light blue interior remains in stock configuration and has held
up nicely. The cloth bench seat is comfortable enough for even
longer journeys. Up front, the dash area has received the same
treatment and while the freshness of its cover suggests that it was
likely replaced not long ago, the work was done with precision. The
gauges inside the instrument cluster still function as
intended.
More than 40 years after it first rumbled off the factory floor,
this Chevy truck runs strong enough to pass muster with even the
most stringent classic truck enthusiast. It's original
305-cubic-inch V8, equipped with a Holley Demon four-barrel
carburetor that sits on top of an Edelbrock intake manifold, fires
up promptly and idles smoothly. Step down on the gas pedal and
you'll be pleased with the acceleration it offers as the engine
exhales into a pair of long tube headers that minimize
performance-robbing back pressure, sending just the right note out
of its tailpipes via the added Flowmaster mufflers. Power steering
makes this truck easy to maneuver, while power brakes that feature
discs up front bring it to a stop with no delay. Unlike many trucks
that ride on sizable tires, this K10 steers pretty easily and its
ride is fairly smooth. And should a sense of adventure prompt you
to venture from the asphalt and onto more rugged terrain, its
four-wheel drive function works without a hitch.
