This Type 2 Deluxe 21-Window Microbus has been completely restored
and is finished in Velvet Green (L512) and Pearl White (L87). The
'Samba' is the 21-window model, produced between 1964 and 1967.
Fitted with a cloth sunroof, it is considered by many to be the
rarest and most desirable of the Microbus variants. Not only has
this 'Samba' been cosmetically restored, but the mechanics have
also been rebuilt and modernized.
A new fabric top complements the striking two-tone green/white
exterior of this 21-Window, 14" Hancook Kinergy radial tires
mounted on painted steel wheels, Safari windows, driver/passenger
side mirrors, and front and rear painted bumpers with overrides and
rubber insets.
The beige/green interior features split walk-through front seats,
with two rear bench seats, new rubber floor mats, a 4-speed manual
transmission, a clock, and a Sapphire I AM radio. Side windows
slide open and closed, and the Safari two-piece windshield can
adjust outward for increased ventilation.
This 'Samba' is powered by a new engine that maintains a stock
appearance but has been invigorated to 100hp. The power train
features 74 stroke and 88 bore modifications, a CB Performance cam,
German 88MM Type 1 pistons and cylinders, and a rebuilt 4-speed
manual transmission. New brakes bring the vehicle to a stop.
Semi-elliptical leaf springs, shocks, and coil springs provide
stability.
European Collectibles sold this 1965 Volkswagen Type 2 Deluxe
21-Window to a local client in Orange County, California, who has
enjoyed the drive with the family. A new front disc brake
conversion kit was installed in May of 2025, including the original
front drum brakes. This is a beautiful Deluxe 21-Window, which is
ready to enjoy!
