1993 Mazda RX-7 For Sale
This 1993 Mazda RX-7 is a well-documented, carefully preserved FD
that balances originality, thoughtful upgrades, and long-term
ownership. In 2002, a brand-new factory Mazda rotary engine was
installed at a cost of $7,600, and the car has been driven
approximately 12,000 miles since the engine replacement. The
current owner has cared for the car for over 16 years, focusing on
refinement and reliability rather than shortcuts or excessive
boost.
The drivetrain has been professionally sorted by an RX-7 specialty
shop, with ECU remapping and tuning optimized for strong, reliable
performance, producing an estimated 325 horsepower without pushing
the factory turbo system beyond its comfort zone. The twin turbos
have been completely rebuilt, and supporting maintenance includes
new spark plugs and wires, hoses, belts, Royal Purple transmission
fluid, and a short-throw shifter for a more direct driving
experience. A Greddy 4-inch stainless exhaust with twin tailpipes
provides a clean, period-correct sound.
Cosmetically, the car presents at a very high level. A custom body
shop completed a full, glass-out repaint using epoxy sealer and
primer, followed by five coats of Mazda Blazing Metallic Copper and
five coats of clear, all sprayed in a dustless environment and
oven-cured. Every piece of trim, all glass, and the doors, hood,
and hatch were removed prior to paint. The quality of the work is
evident, and the car has been shown at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand
Prix and the Carlisle Import Car Show. Exterior details include a
factory rear wing, Knightsport carbon fiber vented hood painted to
match, Type 99 front bumper, clear marker lights, and LED driving
lights.
Inside, the RX-7 remains clean and well kept, featuring an Alpine
stereo, new embroidered carpet floor mats, new rubber window seals,
a new tinted windshield, and tinted side and hatch glass. Braking
has been refreshed with cross-drilled rotors and pads, filled with
silicone DOT 5 brake fluid.
This is an FD RX-7 that reflects long-term, knowledgeable ownership
- mechanically sorted, tastefully upgraded, and finished to a
standard that stands out without losing the character that makes
these cars so special.
