1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Cabriolet, one of only 404
produced, it's car #241 of the 350. (350 Cabriolets & 54 Coupes)
Make sure you check out the copy of the front and back of the Sales
Branch Record (SBR) for this car in the still pics! The car was
initially commissioned by Edsel Ford as a stylish winter "toy" for
Palm Beach, based on the Lincoln Zephyr convertible platform but
with notable design enhancements such as a lengthened hood and the
introduction of the now-iconic Continental kit with a rear-mounted
spare tire. This car introduced the iconic Continental kit design
with a rear-mounted spare tire behind a shortened trunk. Iconic Art
Deco chrome accents, glossy black paint, steel wheels with beauty
rings, and wide whitewall tires. The interior features a red and
cream leather-cloth mix with an original steering wheel and art
deco dashboard, though showing some wear consistent with the car's
age. Mechanically, the car houses a smooth-running 292 cubic inch
V12 engine paired with a 3-speed manual (3-on-the-tree)
transmission. Recent maintenance includes new wheel cylinders, a
rebuilt carburetor, and repacked wheel bearings. The
vacuum-assisted convertible top operates well, reflecting the
advanced engineering of the era. On the road the car's smooth ride,
effective brakes, and the torque delivered by the V12 engine, are
highlights. Additional items such as the original owner's manual,
warranty pamphlet, and tools accompany the vehicle.
