Overview
Offered for sale is my 1971 Jeepster Commando Wagon (C-101), a classic and increasingly hard‑to‑find vintage Jeep from the last year of the original Kaiser-era Commando production. This is one of ~57,000 units produced and sold in Arizona. I am the third Arizona based owner. This Jeepster represents an excellent opportunity to own a true 4x4 classic with timeless styling, a simple drivetrain, and strong collector appeal. The vehicle has been parked in-doors in Flagstaff, Arizona since 2018.
The truck presents as a driver-quality survivor and runs and drives well. These Jeepster Commandos are gaining recognition among collectors as a rugged alternative to early Broncos and Blazers, with far fewer produced and surviving today.
Exterior
- Finished in Baja Yellow
- Original steel wagon body with removable hardtop
- Body is rust-free, with minor paint chips (see photos for details)
- Straight panels with good gaps
- Original-style wheels and trim
- Glass, lights, and lenses are in good working order
The exterior shows well for its age and turns heads wherever it goes. This is not an over-restored vehicle; it retains the honest character that buyers in this market appreciate.
Interior
- Original-style interior in yellow / metal, black / carpet, tan / vinyl
- Front bucket seats and rear bench present well
- Factory dashboard and gauges (speedometer and gas gauge need repair)
- Heater, wipers, and lights function as expected for a vehicle of this era
- Interior remains largely stock and unmodified, except for AM/FM/CD stereo
The cabin offers a great blend of vintage Jeep utility and wagon practicality.
Drivetrain & Mechanical
- Engine: 225 Dauntless V6
- Transmission: Automatic
- Transfer Case: 4WD
- Power steering: Yes
- Brakes: Drum (not power assisted)
The Jeep starts easily, idles smoothly, and drives as it should. It tracks straight, shifts properly, and has been used regularly. Recent service includes:
- Transmission & Engine rebuild (04/29/2022)
- BF Goodrich AT T/A K02 tires installed (11/11/2022)
- 2” suspension system upgrade (11/29/2024)
- Oil, lube, filter (June 6, 2025)
- Carburetor rebuild / tune-up (01/01/2026)
This is a vintage Jeep, not a modern SUV—it drives like one and should be approached with that expectation.
Highlights
- Final model year of the original Jeepster Commando
- Desirable wagon body style
- Increasing collector interest
- Simple, rugged mechanicals
- Excellent candidate for continued enjoyment or further restoration

- minor paint chips
- fuel gauge inoperative (parts included to repair)
