Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1963 Mercury Comet S-22
Convertible. This Comet was restored under present ownership in
2009-2010 and presents to a very nice driver standard throughout.
Well optioned with power steering, power brakes, power top and a
302 cubic inch V8 mated to an overdrive automatic transmission.
Long-term California black plate car; very solid underneath with
original floors and rockers. Attractively presented in two-tone
blue and while. Classic 14-inch Cragar S/S wheels are wearing
radial tires. Bumpers, grille, trim, glass and those cool taillight
housings remain in very good condition.
Interior was restored at the same time and presents well with only
light patina; seat upholstery still looks nearly new. All gauges
and lights are working except for the odometer (speedometer works
fine). The original AM radio is still present but inoperative. The
power convertible top mechanism works property; the top itself in
in good condition with only one small tear less than an inch long.
All four windows work, but the rears need a little help up and
down.
This was always V8 car but the owner upgraded the original 260 to a
302, which was fully rebuilt (with records) in 2017. It's mated to
an AOD automatic transmission with overdrive. This drivetrain
transforms the car into one that can comfortably cruise at modern
highway speeds. Equipped with power steering and power brakes -
with the power options plus the V8 and overdrive automatic, it's
easy to handle around town and on the highway. We estimate fewer
than 2,000 miles on the rebuilt engine.
The present owner moved from California to South Carolina in 2018,
where this car has been garaged since. Included with the sale are
complete records documenting the restoration, engine rebuild, and
all service since 2009. Starts easily and runs and drives well -
the 302 is both smooth and strong. For more information about this
