Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this stunning 1971
Camaro Z/28. This is a real-deal Z/28 per the trim tag and it still
retains its original numbers-matching LT1 V-8 and Muncie M22
Rock-Crusher 4-speed manual transmission! This Z/28 comes to us
dressed in a slick respray of its original color - Cranberry Red
(75) - with black painted racing stripes on the hood and decklid.
We do not know when the car was painted, but it presents very well
with only minuscule imperfections. The front end has an
intimidating look with an angular chrome-trimmed eggcrate grille
with a "Z/28" badge flanked by round headlights in bright bezels
and fronted by a gleaming chrome bumper. A black chin spoiler
beneath adds to the sporty feel. Hood locks have been added to the
front corners of the hood. As you round the side, more brightwork
pops against the red paint - windshield and rear window trim,
belt-line molding, door edge guards, door handles, and rocker
molding. Both sides of the car sport "Z/28" fender badging and
body-color side mirrors. The fastback roof-line leads your eye back
to a 3-piece decklid spoiler with "Z/28" badging beneath.
Chrome-ringed round taillights, another chrome bumper, and two
tailpipes from the dual exhaust complete the look in the rear. This
whole gorgeous package sits atop Argent OEM 15" Rally wheels all
wrapped in BF Goodrich white-letter Radial T/A tires.
Under the hood, you'll find a clean and organized engine bay that
you can be proud to show off at any car show. At the heart is the
original numbers-matching 350ci 5.7 liter 4-bolt main LT1 V-8! Atop
the block are stock cast heads, an aluminum intake, a Holley
4-barrel carburetor, finned black valve covers with cross-flags
logo, and a chrome-topped dual snorkel air cleaner. Also present
are HEI ignition and power steering. The hearty V-8 is mated up to
the same transmission it was born with - a numbers-matching Muncie
M22 Rock-Crusher 4-speed manual that puts power to the pavement via
a 10-bolt rear axle with 3.73 Positraction gears. Exhaust flows
from chrome long-tube headers through a correct transverse muffler
before exiting the rear with a pleasing growl. Stopping power comes
courtesy of power front disc and rear drum brakes.
When you open the driver's door you're greeted by a stock black
interior (785) in excellent condition. The long black door panels
are accented by faux burled wood trim and they're outfitted with
crank windows and a mirror toggle switch for the driver. Up front
are black vinyl Strato-Bucket seats (new for '71) with built-in
headrests and in the rear are bucket bottoms and a bench back. All
of the seats are in fantastic condition with no noticeable
demerits. Between the front buckets is a center console complete
with an armrest/storage box, a storage slot, and a Hurst shifter
with a white pattern ball surrounded by more woodgrain trim. Ahead
of the driver is a 4-spoke black Z/28 steering wheel with a working
horn button on a fixed column. Set in the crack-free black dash
ahead of the driver is a curved gauge cluster with a faux woodgrain
bezel. The round gauges include fuel, amps, temp, oil (replacement
Autometer gauge), a 150mph speedometer, and an 8K tachometer. The
odometer reads 14,165 miles and the title states mileage "exceeds
mechanical limits". Also in the gauge area are controls for the
lights and wipers as well as a lighter. Below and to the left are
controls for the working heat and fan and to the right is a
slide-out ashtray. Centered on the dash above the console is a
Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette stereo that plays your favorite tunes
through a dash speaker and two 6X9 Pioneer speakers on the rear
package tray. Ahead of the passenger is a glovebox with a courtesy
light and an original owners manual. Look up to find a tight black
perforated vinyl headliner and overhead shoulder safety belts.
Underfoot is nice black hook & loop carpet. Back in the trunk is a
vinyl houndstooth mat, a full matching spare with vinyl cover, a
factory-style jack in a vinyl bag, a car cover, and a California
duster for keeping this beauty looking nice. This Z/28 also comes
with a 3-ring binder full of receipts from 1988 to 2020 as well as
some photos of the car from back in 2001-2.
Only 4,862 Z/28's were produced in 1971 - how many are still
around?, how many still have their original engines and
drivetrains?, how many are in this level of condition? - "Very few"
would be a safe answer! Finding one of these true Z/28's is no easy
task these days, so don't let this opportunity to own one of these
awesome machines pass you by! This ride is turn-key ready to hit
the road today, all it needs is you in the drivers seat!
