INTRODUCTION: Only 540 miles on the restoration. $8100 in service
just prior to us acquiring it.
EXTERIOR: It looks like a horizontal rocket ship with its bullet
shaped front end and twin thruster tail lights! This one is even
that much cooler with the Sport Roadster package. The tonneau cover
over the back seat lifts right off and does not interfere with the
top. The fit and finish is really excellent on this car. Someone
worked hard making sure it is straight as an arrow. It has the
scoop on the hood and fender skirts in back.R epainted its original
Corinthian white, they gave it the same effort as a black car, it's
a white mirror! The chrome sparkles, the stainless is polished and
straight. It's a spectacle demonstrating the power top function.
All from one switch the rear lid unscrews, opens, unfolds, then the
top comes up, the lid closes and screws down tight. The white
convertible top looks great. You know what else looks great? The
wire wheels! They sparkle like jewelry and are wearing Hankook
tires.
INTERIOR: The red interior is a great contrast to the white paint.
The dash pad and the door panels are in remarkably good shape, so
is all the chrome and trim. The gauge area is really cool and so is
the center console. Another neat feature is the swing away steering
wheel. Down on the floor it has nice carpet with reproduction mats
and seat belts. Under the tonneau cover (easily removable) is a
full back seat. The power windows are very convenient, especially
when the tonneau is on. It's a stylish, sporty yet roomy
interior!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is obvious that this motor compartment was
disassembled and restored! Every component looks clean and proper.
That's a 390 motor making 300 hp, it runs smooth as silk. It also
features factory air conditioning along with power steering and
brakes. It's very tidy, the plug wires are run neatly, the choke
tube has correct cloth wrap, it has the rubber flaps over the
suspension, it has hood insulation and even the Ford washer fluid
bag. The metal surfaces are painted neatly, the bolts look
fresh.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It's one of the best compartments I've seen in
one of these! It has an upgraded relay system from Thunderbird
Ranch. It replaces the old relays with failsafe electronic relays
with manual overrides and also comes with an emergency deck unlock
switch. The rams and hoses look new too. It has the complete
reproduction liner kit and they even sprung for a 5th wire wheel
for the spare.
UNDERSIDE: The restoration wasn't just on top, they did a nice job
underneath too! The front end steering looks rebuilt and detailed.
It has 4 new shocks and in back the leaf spring bushings were
replaced. New swaybars were installed front and back. The brakes
were gone through, new brake cylinders were just installed. It has
a new fuel tank and filler neck. The dual exhaust looks fresh, has
a crossover pipe and stainless mufflers. Looking up at the motor it
looks clean, the Cruise-O-Matic trans looks fresh. The floors are
clean metal nicely painted semi gloss black.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: One of the coolest, most innovative cars from that era!
It's not too often you see one restored to the extent this one has
been restored.
