This is a rare and distinctive collectable from an era where we got
very few. Oldsmobile brought us back into the muscle cars days with
a taste of the performance we all love. The 1983 Oldsmobile
Hurst/Olds name was resurrected in time for the partnership's 15th
anniversary and celebrated with this low production run of V8
coupes.
The Hurst/Olds was never about being subtle, and this '83 continues
the grand tradition with an awesome black-over-silver paint job,
blacked-out trim, and red stripes. Plus, the aggressive spoilers
and hood scoop let you know this meant business. The transformed
Cutlass looks fantastic in its war paint, and this one is showing
exceptionally well. The decals remain firmly affixed to the paint,
and all the parts unique to the Hurst cars are intact. These
details really tell you this is a cherished coupe, and we certainly
understand why. Production was limited to 3001 examples, so
collectors snatched them up and protected them from the rigors of
daily use.
Inside, the Hurst/Olds has bucket seats and a proper center
console, something few other Oldsmobiles of the era can claim. The
rare Sand Gray cloth goes well with the exterior color, especially
when it has been this well preserved. But the real exciting thing
everyone will be looking at is the special three-lever Hurst
Lightning shifter setup that gives full manual control of the
automatic transmission underneath. This a true premium coupe,
loaded with power windows, power locks, cruise control, and tilt
wheel. All of it looks original and complete right down to the
rebuilt factory AM/FM/cassette stereo with added AUX port.
Oldsmobile utilized 307 cubic inch V8 for these cars, however this
car has been upgraded with a 350 cubic engine that appears stock
under the hood, making this Hurst/Olds a real sleeper and a blast
to drive. Fortified with a four-barrel carburetor and rumbling dual
exhaust with aftermarket mufflers, it provides the kind of
old-school muscle that few others offered in the '80s. Just like
the rest of the car's originality, this car comes with a hint of
flash on the factory chrome air cleaner. The triple-stalk Hurst
shifter in the interior allows you to get the most out of the 350
V8 motor. On days when you want to take it easy, just simply let
the four-speed automatic w/overdrive shift itself. Other great
features for both cruising and performance driving include power
steering, power brakes w/discs up front, sway bars front & rear,
and Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires on special redline Super Stock ll
wheels.
