*1969 Dodge Charger 440 R/T*The second generation Dodge Charger
debuted in 1968 and made a name for the model as one of the meanest
looking muscle cars around. Paired with some of MOPAR's finest big
block V8s, these cars gained considerable notoriety from playing a
starring role in both the Dukes of Hazzard and the car chase around
San Francisco in Bullett. When you pair that with the fact that
they're also great fun to drive, the second generation Charger was
always bound to be a collectible. This 1969 Dodge Charger R/T is
finished in bright red and was faithfully restored in the early
2000s. Sitting on a set of original-style 10-spoke wheels wrapped
in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, this Charger isn't too far off
what you would have seen sliding around in the Dukes of Hazzard -
and a Dixie horn under the hood takes the fun to the next level.
One of the signature features of this era Charger is the menacing
vacuum actuated hidden headlight covers that slide away when the
lights are turned on but give the car an extra wide looking grille
when they're turned off. During the restoration, the transverse R/T
decklid stripe was removed, making for an opportunity to appreciate
the clean, pure design of the car.Inside, white vinyl covers the
front bucket seats, rear bench seat and door cards, which is then
paired with black carpet and a black vinyl dashboard. Climb into
the driver's seat and you're met with a large 3-spoke wood-rimmed
steering wheel that frames a deeply hooded speedometer and
tachometer. The center console is finished in wood applique and
features a lever for the 3-speed automatic gearbox beneath it.Under
the hood sits a 440ci Mopar V8 which breathes through a 4bbl
carburetor and aluminum headers. For added reliability, MSD
ignition and serpentine belt conversion were fitted, along with an
aluminum radiator with electric fans. Power is sent to the rear
wheels via a 727 Torque Flite 3-speed automatic gearbox and disc
brakes have been fitted at all four wheels. For the discerning
classic car enthusiast or somebody who wants to live out their
action movie fantasies, this Charger R/T is an excellent example.
With little use since its 2000s era restoration, this Charger still
presents in excellent overall condition and would look great parked
alongside anything in a collection.*Key Features* * Real 440 R/T -
