Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this low-mileage 1987
Pontiac Fiero GT. This time capsule from the 80's comes to us with
only 25,484 actual miles on the odometer and it's ready to hit the
road and have a blast! This Fiero is dressed in it's original
factory coat of Medium Red Metallic (M77) - a new color for 1987.
The paint is still in high-driver quality condition with a bright
shine and only minimal small imperfections from having been driven.
Accenting the red is a base of silver that rings the bottom of the
car and black body side molding with integrated side marker lights
and door handles. The low-slung front end features an aero-style
front fascia exclusive to the GT model and iconic flip-up
headlights that work just as they should. Also up front are a Fiero
"Pegasus" badge and a front license plate holder. As you walk
around to the side, the fastback roof-line grabs your attention
immediately as it flows back to a sporty decklid spoiler. Both
sides of the car wear black side mirrors and GT logos on the rear
glass sail panels. On the drivers side you'll find an air intake
just behind the door that feeds the mid-mounted engine. Adding
further to the sporty side view are a set of grey 15" OEM lace mesh
wheels all wrapped in Riken Raptor tires. The tires are dated 2018,
but still look new because the car has only been driven 1,200 miles
since 2019 and it's been stored in a climate-controlled
environment. Around back you'll find clear taillight covers that
stretch side to side with "PONTIAC" illuminated in the center, a
small GT badge, a third brake light, and a set of dual fluted
exhaust tips on each side.
Lift the rear decklid to reveal both the trunk and the engine bay.
The carpeted trunk section has a working courtesy light, a new
rubber seal, and contains an indoor car cover. Between the trunk
and the cabin is the engine bay. At the center is a 2.8 liter
fuel-injected V-6 mated up to a 3-speed THM-125 automatic
transmission (We did note during our inspection that there is a
small leak coming from the original transmission lines). This
mid-mounted 140hp V-6 is enough to make this little
rear-wheel-drive 2-seater feel like you're in a race car as you zip
around town. Spicing up the view are a bright red intake with
"FIERO" emblazoned on top and a matching set of red valve covers.
Flanking the engine are black vent covers that are easily removable
to provide greater access. Also present, but difficult to see from
above, is a working factory A/C compressor. Stopping power is
provided by 4-wheel power disc brakes. As is the case with all
Fieros, steering is manual. At the front of the car is a
forward-lifting hood that opens to reveal the radiator with
electric fan, the headlight assemblies, the brake booster, master
cylinder, proportioning valve, wiper fluid reservoir, and factory
spare tire with jack. To call it a "frunk" would be misleading, as
there is only enough room to put a small duffle bag atop the spare
tire.
When you swing open the drivers door, both ceiling and underdash
courtesy lights pop on to illuminate an exceptionally nice grey and
black interior. The door panels are a mix of grey plastic and grey
carpet with power locks, storage pockets, armrests, and a drivers
side mirror toggle. The manually adjustable grey cloth bucket seats
are in excellent condition with no stains, tears, or wear spots.
Splitting the buckets is a wide center console that offers a
flip-down storage compartment, lighter, controls for the power
windows, and a leather-wrapped shifter flanked by two small
ashtrays. Ahead of the driver is a leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering
wheel with a working horn button on a tilt column. The turn signal
stalk does triple-duty - offering controls for the intermittent
wipers as well as cruise control. The wheel frames a gauge pod that
contains a 120mph speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge
(inop.), and two rows of warning lights. Flanking the pod are
switches for lights, trunk release, and rear defogger. A vertical
pod in the center of the dash is home to a factory Delco
AM/FM/Cassette stereo with 5-band EQ, controls for the HVAC system
(offering cold A/C and hot heat), vents, and gauges for battery and
oil pressure (needle bounces around). The stereo plays through
speakers in the dash, speakers in the sail panels, and a 5 "
subwoofer under the dash that's part of the Performance Sound
System option. Ahead of the passenger, there is only a storage
pocket on the dash, creating a spaceous feel for your co-pilot. The
floor is covered with grey factory carpet that's kept looking good
with black carpeted floormats. Overhead, the grey felt headliner is
sagging and the most recent owner improvised two plastic "rails" to
hold it up (quite effectively!). Also overhead are map lights and a
slider switch for the Performance Sound System subwoofer.
Whether you're a Fiero fan from the 80's or just someone looking
for a fun two-seater sports car, this '87 GT is going to put a
smile on your face! It looks fantastic, it's got cold A/C, low
miles, a clean CarFax, a nice stereo for your cruisin' tunes, and
plenty of power for an exhilerating driving experience. If you've
never experienced a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive car before, this
Fiero GT will make you a diehard fan after just a few minutes
behind the wheel! Give our friendly staff a call today, don't let
this opportunity to own a cool piece of 80's automotive history
pass you by!
