The 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe Sedan was part of Chevrolet's postwar
lineup and represented an affordable family car of the early 1950s.
Built on Chevrolet's A-body platform, the Deluxe sat above the more
standard trim models and featured additional chrome accents,
upgraded interior materials and more exterior color options.
One-Family-Owned Classic-
This Chevrolet Deluxe Sedan is a solid example of a classic Chevy.
According to the current owner, this Chevy has been in the family
since new and received careful restoration in 2012. The process
included a handsome respray of Burgundy Red with exterior accents
that include nice chrome, rear fender skirts, original dog-dish
hubcaps and 15" wide-white BFGoodrich Silvertown radial tires.
Restored Interior-
The restored interior is in very good condition. Custom vinyl
material has been used to create the upholstery, door cards and
headliner. A classic dash retains the original instrumentation,
clock, heater controls and an aftermarket tach. The factory AM
radio also resides in the dash but needs some TLC.
Performance 'Stovebolt' Drivetrain-
This solid Chevy is powered by a 216ci 'Thriftmaster' straight-six
that was rated at 92hp. It has had performance upgrades including
an Offenhauser dual-carburetor intake, dual exhaust and an HD
aluminum radiator. Behind this 'Stovebolt' sits a 3-speed manual
transmission with column shift. The electrical system has been
converted to 12v alternator based.
The '51 Chevrolet was prized for its rugged reliability and simple
maintenance, making it one of the best-selling cars in America that
year. Today it is an enduring symbol of early '50s American
motoring.
