Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa presents this amazing 1987 Volkswagen
Syncro! These factory bespoke machines add 4x4 capability to VW
classic and versatile Vanagon for overland adventure and ability. A
slice of both worlds. Room for the fam, your friends and ALL your
stuff, and the ability to go travelling over whatever terrain your
dynamic life demands of you. Awesome!
This 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro hails from Bolivia and comes with many
one-off custom additions. Including modified suspension and brakes
from a Toyota HiAce van! including upgraded HiAce front disk brakes
with Toyota Levin rear disk breaks with bigger calipers and a new E
brake system. The rear suspension now consist of Toyota 200 series
coils plus 1" aluminum spacers on the rear wheels, custom matching
roof rack with LED light bar were added. The front bumper has
integrated lights, a winch and tow-hooks as plus integrated tow
hooks in the rear with a trailer hitch. There's a ladder out back
for easy access and loading of the roof rack too.
Inside is all business with a 2016 Single Cab Bench seat - custom
fitted to the cab, 5 speed manual and rubber floor mat. Ready for
work! The back of the van is spartan as well. A great spot to toss
gear or cargo with no worry of damage to the van itself. That said,
it's also free space to mod however you like. Fill it to the brim
with bed, cooking appliances and cabinets, or a lounge and flat
screen TV, your imagination is the limit!
Easily the most unique feature of this 87 VW Syncro is the paint
scheme. Desert tan bisected with black rockers and complimenting
black stripe along the bodyline with blacked out grill and
headlight surrounds. This Van looks rough and tough! The tan wheels
wrapped in 245/758 R16 tires for surefooted action when the terrain
demand. The Van drives well with a supple ride and direct steering,
responsive brakes and a torquey and responsive flat-four that
belies is 95hp. The 4x4 is full-time all the time so no locking
hubs or flicking switches.
The Volkswagen Synchro is a highly desirable off-roading
masterpiece. This modified 1978 VW Syncro exemplifies the breed.
