Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to digitally present
this iconic 1969 Pontiac GTO, finished in crisp white over a black
interior - a timeless combination that highlights the clean,
muscular lines that defined the height of the American muscle car
era.
By 1969, the GTO had fully come into its own. What began as a
performance experiment earlier in the decade had matured into a
refined yet unapologetically aggressive machine, blending street
presence, big-block attitude, and everyday usability. This example
captures that balance exceptionally well.
The exterior presents with strong panel fit and body lines,
finished in white that accentuates the GTO's sculpted fenders,
signature Endura front bumper, and purposeful stance. Subtle chrome
trim and correct badging complete the look without distraction,
allowing the car's proportions to speak for themselves.
Under the hood resides the numbers matched 400 cubic inch V8,
rebuilt by Performance Auto in 2016 and upgraded with a modern
Holley Sniper EFI system. This combination preserves the character
of the original Pontiac powerplant while delivering improved
drivability, throttle response, and reliability. Power is routed
through a smooth-shifting 4-speed Muncie manual transmission,
rebuilt in 2019, providing the kind of direct, mechanical
engagement that enthusiasts expect from a true late-1960s muscle
car.
A new Hurst Performance shifter enhances the driving experience
with crisp, confident gear changes, while the original Hurst
shifter is included for those who value factory-correct components.
Supporting upgrades include a new power steering box and pump,
along with a rebuilt suspension featuring new lowering spindles and
springs, giving the car a planted stance without sacrificing ride
quality.
Braking performance has been modernized with 4-wheel power disc
brakes, delivering confident, predictable stopping power to match
the car's performance capabilities.
Inside, the black interior offers a period-correct environment with
bucket seating, factory-style instrumentation, and a clean,
uncluttered dashboard layout. The cabin strikes a balance between
comfort and intent, making it equally suited for weekend cruising
or showing at local events.
From behind the wheel, this GTO delivers the unmistakable
experience that earned its reputation. Steering feel is direct, the
suspension communicates the road without being harsh, and the
drivetrain reinforces that this is a serious car built in an era
when performance came first.
This 1969 Pontiac GTO represents an opportunity to own a
foundational piece of muscle car history - thoughtfully restored,
mechanically sorted, and enhanced where it matters most, without
losing its original soul.
This vehicle can be seen at the St. Louis Showroom located at 1237
